Sen. Aduda Resigns from PDP, Cites Party Crisis

By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

Former Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Philip Tanimu Aduda, has formally resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), citing the lingering crisis within the party.

This was contained in a resignation letter dated March 17, 2026, and addressed to the PDP Chairman of Karu Ward, Abuja.

Sen. Aduda announced that his decision takes immediate effect as he attributed his exit to the lingering crisis currently in the party.

The former lawmaker, who served in the 7th, 8th, and 9th National Assembly from 2011 to 2023, expressed gratitude to the PDP for the platform it provided him to serve in various elective positions.

Aduda’s resignation adds to the growing list of high-profile defections linked to internal disputes within the party, raising concerns about unity ahead of future political engagements.

Meanwhile, the defected lawmaker stormed the APC national secretariat hours after dumping PDP.

Reportedly, Aduda is currently in a closed-door meeting with the APC national chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and some National Working Committee (NWC) members.

He was cited at the APC secretariat in the company of the newly elected chairman of Bwari Area Council, Hon. Joshua Ishakwu, and his Kuje Area Council counterpart, Hon. Danjuma Shekwkolo.

Aduda had earlier officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, citing ongoing crises within the party.
