Senator Mao Ohuabunwa is now the Chairman of the newly constituted Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Party, PDP to replace Senator Aldophus Wabara Sen. Ohuabunwa emerged the new PDP BoT National Chairman following an emergency meeting held on Friday by some party members supporting the recent court judgment concerning the leadership of the party and intra- party crisis.
Wabara and Makarfi were replaced from their party positions due to their involvement in the ongoing intra-party crisis.
In a communique issued at the end of the meeting of the newly reconstituted BoT on Friday in Abuja,
the new BoT secretary, Hon. Isa Dansidi, Ohuabunwa, said the board unanimously approved the election of Senator Mao Ohuabunwa as chairman from the South to replace Senator Adolphus Wabara, hails from the South.
In the same vein, Hon. Isah Dansidi, the new BoT Secretary hails from the northern part of the country like Senator Makarfi.
The emergency meeting was convened on Friday, November 8th, 2025, following recent developments within the party and particularly the implications of the landmark judgment of the Federal High Court and the forthcoming National Convention when Sen. Aldophus Wabara’s position as chairman of the party was annulled The communiqué stated, ” The BoT recognizes the authority of all legally constituted organs of the Party and reiterates its confidence in the ongoing efforts to restore internal order, discipline, and constitutional adherence in line with the judgment of the Federal High Court delivered on October 31, 2025.”

“The BoT directs all organs and officers of the Party to ensure full and immediate compliance with the said judgment.”
“The BoT emphasizes that no process or organ of the Party should act in contempt of court or outside constitutional provisions, as such actions would render subsequent outcomes null and void.”
“The Board noted that the immediate past BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, and Secretary, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, having publicly taken positions in the ongoing intra-party crisis, can no longer continue to serve in their
previous capacities to preserve the neutrality, integrity, and moral authority of the BoT.”
However, the new PDP BoT has urged leaders, members, and supporters across Nigeria and in the diaspora to uphold the party’s. onstitution and to collectively work towards the success of the upcoming National Convention.
