Former Senate Minority Leader from Plateau State Senator Simon Mwadkwon Fwet , has joined the All Progressives Congress APC .
Sen. Mwadkon who was the former Minority Leader at the Red Chamber of the 10th National Assembly under the People’s Democratic party made his position known when he visited Elders of the APC in Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau state yesterday.
Mwadkon also revealed his intention to contest the Plateau Northern Senatorial seat under his new party the APC.
He said ” I am here to announce my entry to the APC and to seek wise council from Local Government Party Elders.”
Madkwom further said the decision followed wide consultations with constituents, political stakeholders, family members, and associates.
“This realignment is also driven by the genuine desire of Governor Caleb Mutfwang to serve our people more effectively and ensure that our voices are heard and respected at the highest decision-making tables where the destinies of our communities are being shaped.”
He assured Elders that his entry into the Party is to join hands with them to build the Party.
His defection marks another significant boost for the APC in Plateau ahead of the 2027 election.
Speaking earlier while welcoming Sen Mwadkon the Chairman of Elders Council in Barkin Ladi LGA, Chief Solomon Bature ,said the party is open for membership, and encouraged everyone to be honest and faithful with party affairs.
The elders also prayed for Senator Madkwom and wished him all the best in his aspiration.
Sen. Mwadkon was accompanied by Hon Dalyop Mancha, Jackson Rwang and several other supporters.
Our correspondent reports that Senator Mwadkwon, has cultivated a robust grassroots base through years of direct engagement with constituents across Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Jos North, Jos East, Bassa, and Jos South local government areas.
As Senate Minority Leader from July to October 2023, he advocated for Plateau’s interests at the national level, earning praise for principled leadership and unity-building efforts .
