Senate Commences Confirmation Proceedings for EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede

By Daniel Edu

The Senate has initiated the confirmation proceedings for Mr. Ola Olukoyede, the nominated Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Mr. Olukoyede is presently present at the National Assembly, accompanied by some of the Commission’s management staff.

His nomination as the Executive Chairman of the EFCC was approved by President Bola Tinubu the previous week. This appointment is for an initial renewable term of four years, pending confirmation by the Senate.

The appointment of Mr. Olukoyede follows the suspension of the former head of the anti-graft agency, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, by President Tinubu, almost four months ago.
