Senate president Ahmad Lawan has reacted to the allegation of assault committed by Senator Elisha Abbo against a woman in Abuja.
The lawmaker from Adamawa state was allegedly caught on camera slapping a woman in a shop following confrontation.
The Senate president in a couple of tweets said he has constituted an adhoc committee to investigate the allegation.
Distinguished Senator @DrAhmadLawan has set up a bi-partisan committee to investigate the allegation of assault by Senator Elisha Cliff Abbo on a woman at a sex toy shop in Abuja. The committee has two weeks to submit its report.

Following calls I received from within and outside the country, the condemnation of Nigerians and the points raised by my fellow colleagues, I have constituted an adhoc committee to investigate the allegation of assault preferred against Senator Elisha Abbo

He said he has resolved to lead a National Assembly that is responsible and responsive to the people.
The constitution of the committee is in line with my resolve to lead a National Assembly that is not only responsible but responsive to the people we represent. The committee is expected to turn in its report within two weeks.

Meanwhile, Abbo reacted to the viral video showing where he assaulted a woman in an adult shop in Abuja.
