In a significant political development, Senator Godwill Akpabio, the former governor of Akwa Ibom State, has been elected as the President of the 10th Senate. Following the successful election, Akpabio wasted no time and took the oath of office promptly.
Prior to his new position, Akpabio served as the minority leader in the Senate. However, he made headlines when he decided to switch party affiliations from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Despite his initial aspiration to run for the presidency under the APC banner, Akpabio graciously stepped aside to lend his support to the candidacy of Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, who is currently serving as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
