Senator Simon Bako Lalong, the former Labour Minister and current representative of Plateau South Senatorial District, has strongly denounced the Christmas Eve assaults targeting several communities in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin Ladi Local Government Councils. Lalong characterized these attacks as yet another appalling display of violence orchestrated by individuals seeking to sow discord and instability within the state.
Expressing condolences to the affected communities and the Plateau State Government, Lalong underscored the calculated nature of these unfortunate incidents occurring during the festive season. He labeled the attacks as a deliberate effort to instigate chaos, foster hatred among citizens, and sow seeds of disunity. Lalong unequivocally condemned the assault on innocent civilians, emphasizing the need to perceive it solely as a criminal act without providing any justification or interpretation.
Advocating for a robust response, Lalong urged the government to mobilize security agencies and exhibit unwavering determination in pursuing the perpetrators. He emphasized the importance of bringing an end to their malevolent activities and ensuring justice for the victims. Additionally, the former Plateau Governor called upon citizens to heighten their vigilance and implement surveillance measures, enabling security agencies to swiftly and decisively address such attacks.
Dr. Makut Simon Macham, Special Adviser (Media) to Senator Simon Bako Lalong (Plateau South Senatorial District), issued this statement on December 25, 2023.
