SENATOR LALONG PAYS TRIBUTE TO LATE JUSTICE PETER MALLOK AND REV. SISTER IRENE MIAPHEN

Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong has payed tribute to late Justice Peter Hoommuk Mallong of the Federal High Court who died last year.

Speaking at the valedictory Court session in honour of the deceased Judge held at the Federal High Court Jos, Lalong described Justice Mallong as a forthright person who gave his best to the service of the nation.

He said Late Justice Mallong, his childhood friend and class mate from primary school was a man of courage and peace who never condoned illegality and injustice.

Chief Judge of the Federal High Court Justice Peter Tsoho represented by Justice S.M. Shuaibu said the deceased was a fine Judge who left a legacy of hardwork, compassion, kindness and loyalty to the society in both his rulings and conduct.

In separate tributes, Attorney General of Plateau and Commissioner for Justice Philemon Daffi, Body of Senior Advocates led by Pius Akubo SAN, NBA Jos and Pankshin Branches, the Long Gamai of Gamailand as well as family of the late Jurist said the deceased was highly resourcesful and thorough.

Senator Lalong also attended the funeral Mass of Rev. Sis. Irene Katlong Miaphen held at Our Lady of Fatima Sisters Novitiate Kuru Jos.

He eulogised the deceased and praised her dedication to education, humanity and raising the downtrodden in the society.

Lalong recalled how she was instrumental to the development of many young women that passed through her as a teacher and later Principal of St. Louis College Jos.

The Mass was officiated by the Catholic Archbishop of Jos Ishaya Audu.
