Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, has launched a large-scale distribution programme aimed at supporting residents of his zone.
The initiative includes 1,000 motorcycles, 10,000 bags of 50kg rice, sewing machines, and water pumping machines for irrigation farmers. The first phase covered Silame, Binji, Gudu, and Tangaza Local Government Areas, with Tangaza serving as the launch centre.
According to organisers, each of the four local governments received 1,000 bags of rice and 50 motorcycles, in addition to sewing machines for women and pumping machines for farmers to boost dry-season farming. Beneficiaries included ward chairmen, women leaders, social media coordinators, and traditional leaders.
Speaking on behalf of the senator, APC youth leader Alhaji Nasiru Italy described Wamakko’s leadership as inclusive, extending beyond Sokoto North to other parts of the state.
Deputy Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Hon. Kabiru Ibrahim Kware, praised the senator as a father figure and said his grassroots programmes have strengthened APC’s dominance in the state.
Similarly, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Almustafa Abubakar Alkali, reaffirmed Wamakko’s commitment to fulfilling his promises with integrity. Local leaders, including Tangaza LGA Chairman Isah Salihu Bashir and State Assembly member Alhaji Aliyu Usman Lumu, also commended the senator for sustaining what they called a “tradition of empowerment.”
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, saying the support would improve their livelihoods and strengthen progressive politics in Sokoto.
The exercise will continue in Kware, Wamakko, Sokoto North, and Sokoto South LGAs before being extended to other parts of the state.
