By Muhammad Goronyo, Sokoto

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti Corruption, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has commiserated with the victims of Kara market fire disaster, who lost assorted properties believed to be worth billions of naira.

His media aide, Hassan Sahabi Sanyin-lawal said the ill-fated market which houses different business communities went up in flames in the early hours of Tuesday.

Consequently, unquantified properties had been razed by the inferno, resulting in huge losses incurred by the affected traders.

Wamakko, a former governor of the state, described the unfortunate incident as a divinely ordained, just as he expressed happiness that no life was lost as a result of the blaze.

Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District, commiserated with the victims of the disaster, as well as admonished them to regard it as the unavoidable will of the Almighty Allah.

He beseeched Allah to replenish the losses incurred by the myriad of affected traders, most of whom had lost their life savings.

Wamakko further expressed shock and sadness that the tragedy struck at a time when citizens were already experiencing some formidable socioeconomic hard times.

“I am therefore praying the Almighty Allah to prevent the recurrence of such obnoxious tragedies, as well as make ways for the victims to bounce back with their hitherto bustling trading and commercial activities in the market.

“On behalf of myself, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and all its supporters. I am hereby commiserating with all the victims and we are sharing your unexplainable griefs,” he averred.

In his remark, the Secretary, Elders committee of the grains sellers association of the market, Alhaji Bello Bizo thanked Senator Wamakkko for the invaluable visit and prayed Allah to reward him abundantly .

One of the traders interviewed during the visit, explained that about three hundred and sixty shops were affected by the fire incident.
