Senatorial Candidate Shot Dead By NSCDC Official In Imo

The Imo State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Raji Ibrahim has narrated how Imo North Action Alliance senatorial district candidate, Ndubuisi Emenike, was killed.

The late Emenike was allegedly shot dead by one Sydney Ogudoro, an Assistant Superintendent of the Corps.

The commandant, who sympathized with the people of the state and Nigerians at large over the sudden death, pacified the people and assured that the corps would not leave any stone unturned in the investigation of the matter.

Assuring the people that Civil Defence Corps and other sister security agencies would investigate the matter thoroughly, Ibrahim described the suspect, Sydney Ogudoro as one of the most tactical officers of the command.

“We don’t want to believe that it was an accidental discharge, because, in the Civil Defence Corps, we don’t believe in accidental discharge, this is because the suspect is one of our senior officers,” he added.

The PUNCH gathered that the suspect who was not directly attached to the deceased had allegedly shot the deceased at a party recently organised in the state.

Ibrahim said, “The shooting of the deceased was not intentional as people had it. He had already released a shot in the air to scare people but on coming down with the riffle, somebody from crowd mistakenly hit him at the shoulder and the bullet pulled out.”

He prayed for the repose of Emenike’s soul just as he implored God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the great loss.

He said “When I got wind of the incident at Isiala Mbano, I called the Commandant General, who quickly ordered that the suspect should be arrested. As I speak, he was immediately arrested and detained in the police cell”.

He also said that the full weight of the law would prevail adding that the corps had issued the suspect a query, through in detention.

“All security agencies will align with the Police and Corps to give a thorough investigation on the immediate and remote causes of the shooting of the deceased,” he added.
