Seun Kuti Detained In Police Custody Over Assault

Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, submitted himself to the Lagos State Police Command on Monday morning over an investigation into his alleged assault on a policeman.

He reported to the police in the company of his lawyer and a family member, spokesman for the police command, Benjamin Hundeyin told Channels Television.

Hundeyin said Seun is now at the State Criminal Investigation Department in the Panti area of the state.

He also said upon completion of investigation, the police would go ahead with prosecution of the singer if there is any reasonable ground.

On why the singer was handcuffed, the police spokesman said “the law empowers us to place on cuffs, any suspect who has shown a propensity for violence and propensity for evading justice”.
