Seun Kuti Explains his Lack of Belief in God

Seun Kuti, the Nigerian musician and youngest son of Afrobeat Pioneer Fela Kuti, has candidly shared why he doesn’t believe in God during an interview with Hip TV.

In the interview, Seun Kuti clarified that he rejects the conventional concept of God and doesn’t see a reason to credit anyone for creation. He pointed out the contradiction of attributing hunger and suffering to a God who supposedly views humanity as a prized possession.

“I don’t believe in God. Not in the concept that people believe in that there is a guy watching over everybody, will judge you when you die.”

He emphasized his disbelief in the traditional concept of a higher power but acknowledged that there might be something beyond the popular narrative.

“This isn’t the first time Seun has expressed such views; years ago, he stated his disbelief in God and anything supernatural, including Jesus Christ, Mohammed, Ifa, Ogun, etc.

Netizens had varied reactions to Seun Kuti’s statements, with some supporting his perspective and others expressing disagreement and disappointment.

Seun Kuti recently made headlines for a heated altercation at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, where he confronted an individual who had allegedly threatened him online. The confrontation was captured in a viral video.

It’s worth noting that Seun Kuti’s views on religion and spirituality have been consistent over the years, reflecting his personal philosophy and beliefs.
