Shop Owners Warned Against Buying BESDA Books

By Muhammad IbrahimSokoto

People in the state especially shop owners have been warned against buying and selling of BESDA exercise books.

Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board Alhaji Altine Shehu Kajiji gave the warning today while reacting to allegation of selling BESDA properties such as exercise books and white boards.

Alhaji Altine Shehu said such properties were secured by Sokoto state government in conjunction with the Better Education Service Delivery for All BESDA for distribution to schools free if charge.

He described as disheartening, worrying and intolerable the report that such books which have been distributed to the 23 LGEAs some months ago for onward distribution to pupils of BESDA Non Formal Learning Centers can now be found in some shops.

Kajiji said the books are not for sale as such any body found selling or buying them will be arrested and prosecuted.

He expressed displeasure with the ugly trend which according to him amount to un patriotism and sabotage to state government effort in ensuring free basic education to all.

The subeb boss to this end called on people to report anybody found selling or buying BESDA books to the board or the nearest security agency for action.

He also directed Education Secretaries to remain vigilant and more alive to their responsibilities toward checkmating such incidences as they are the ones whom distributed the books to various NFLCs.
