Sokoto Government Expresses Satisfaction with Construction Company

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Muhammad Idris Gobir, has expressed satisfaction with Roads Nigeria Construction Company, citing its capacity to execute quality road projects. He made the statement during an inspection of the company’s yard in Kalambaina, Wamakko Local Government Area.

Gobir noted that the company’s procurement of new heavy construction equipment demonstrates its ability to handle large-scale infrastructure projects within Sokoto and neighboring states. He emphasized the advantages of awarding contracts to an indigenous company like Roads Nigeria.

According to a statement by Garba Muhammad, Director of Press to the Deputy Governor, the state government will continue to engage the company’s services and encouraged other states to do the same.

The Managing Director of Roads Nigeria, Mr. Jimoh Makonjiyola, explained that the company’s investment in modern heavy construction equipment was aimed at maintaining the confidence placed in it by Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s administration. He later gave the Deputy Governor a tour of the newly acquired machinery.

Gobir also inspected ongoing renovation work at Ahmadu Bello Academy, where Project Supervisor Engineer Zayyanu Suleman briefed him on the scope of the project, including the renovation of seven classrooms, the school’s fence, and a motorized solar borehole.

At Shehu Shagari College of Education, the Deputy Governor assessed progress on a pedestrian bridge being constructed at the main gate by U.K. Amana Construction Company. He also reviewed the renovation of six hostels—five for female students and one for male students—funded by the state government.

Accompanying the Deputy Governor on the inspection tour were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ahmed, and the Director of Civil Engineering, Engineer Atiku Shagari.
