Sokoto NUJ Inaugurates 7-Member Credential Committee for Upcoming Elections

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Sokoto State Council has inaugurated a seven-member credential committee in preparation for its upcoming elections. This step is a key move as the current leadership gears up to transfer power to newly elected executive members on December 22, 2024.

During the inauguration, Comrade Abdullahi Safiyal Magori, Chairman of the Sokoto NUJ, highlighted the importance of the committee’s role, stating, “Whatever goes up must one day come down,” referring to the transition of leadership. He emphasized the need for free and fair elections, urging the committee to operate within the union’s guidelines and regulations. Magori extended his best wishes to the committee for a successful election process.

The members of the credential committee include:

– **Alhaji Shehu Jatau Sanyinna** – Chairman
– **Abdallah El-Kurebe** – Secretary
– **Nura Bello S. Tangaza** – Member
– **Murjanatu Magaji** – Member
– **Ahmad Rabiu Wurno** – Member
– **Abdullahi Umar Modibbo** – Member
– **Mohammed Umar** – Member

Speaking on behalf of the committee, Chairman Shehu Jatau Sanyinna expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and assured the public of their commitment to a smooth and credible election. He pledged that the committee would strictly follow the rules to ensure a transparent leadership transition.

In closing, Comrade Magori encouraged unity within the union, affirming, “Together, we can make our union great again by conducting free and fair elections in the state.”
