Sokoto Police Command Discuss Security Issues With Regard To 2023 General Elections

The Sokoto State Commissioner of Police Muhammad Usaini Gumel made this known while addressing newsmen, Police Officers and State Chapter of Police Officers Wives Association. 

The gathering conducted at the Police Officers Mess was aimed at evaluating the current security situation, the ongoing electioneering campaigns by political parties coupled with the behaviors of the candidates and voters across the state.

“The meeting was also to discuss and fashion out better ways of reinforcing the police command preparedness toward creating the desired security environment for INEC to conduct the 2023 general elections in all parts of the state in a free, fair, transparent and credible manner”,averred the Commissioner.

Seven police retiring officers, 4 DSPs and 3ASPs were presented with refrigerators each as commendation for their credible services.

In a related development, the National Association Of Police Officers Wives Association Sokoto Chapter headed by Aisha Muhammad Gumel synergises with Sokoto State Ministry for Women and Children Affairs and Office of the Secretary to the State Government to distribute palliatives to 200 less previledge women and children, that include millet, sorghum and maize.

She commended Sokoto state government for its contributions to 15 POWA Members who were presented with certificates having graduated from skill acquisition programmes sponsored by POWA during the last three months.

“These graduates have since started businesses on the skills they acquired that include soap making, Hairdressings and Detergents among others”, Mrs. Gumel has said.
