State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idris Muhammad Gobir gave the assurance at closeout and disseminating meeting of USAID Momentum Country and Global Leadership Violence Project organized by USAID in collaboration with Sokoto State Ministry for Women and Children Affairs held at Dankane Guest Palace Sokoto.
Alhaji Idris Muhammad Gobir said this could be achieved by partneering with State and non State partners in order to see that women and children are moving freely without any fear of GBV.
Media aide to the Commissioner of Health, Murjanatu Magaji said the State Deputy Governor who was represented by state Commissioner for Health, Asabe Balarabe commended the project for supporting the state not only on the issue of GBV but also in improving the capacity of health providers and health facilities and promised to sustain the gains recorded by the project in the state.
Speaking, Wazirin Sokoto Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu represented by Dangaladiman Waziri Ahmad Bello Gidadawa, commended the USAID Momentum Project for the laudable achievements recorded in the state and assured of the Sultanate Council’s support in that regards.
Earlier speaking, the Commissioner for Women and children Affairs Hadiza Ahmad Shagari represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Alhaji Hayatu Alhaji said with the support of USAID Momentum, Sokoto State government had achieved alot in it’s commitment towards the fight against Gender Based Violence in the state.
Commenting, Sokoto State Team Lead, Momentum Nigeria Project, Dr Bello Maimaje Kabir gave an overview of the project outcomes as well as successes recorded by the project in the state.
Other Speakers at the occassion were country representative of the project, representatives of IHP, UNFPA, and Breakthrough Action of Nigeria among others.
The occassion featured presentation of a documentary of momentum Nigeria work in Sokoto State, presentation of Awards and Surveniors.
