The governor aims to extend Hisbah operations to all 23 local government areas to curb social vices and immorality.
The Hisbah Corps is tasked with promoting modesty, fostering a cleaner and safer society, and tackling immorality and sinful acts.
The governor emphasized that Hisbah is not a state police force but an organized body established to sanitize Muslims in the state saying any arrests made will be handed over to the police for prosecution.
“The government has provided operational vehicles, motorcycles, and office accommodations for the Hisbah Corps. Monthly allocations will also be made available to support their activities”.
The governor assured that the government will closely monitor the activities of the Hisbah Corps to prevent human rights violations and misconduct.
The governor solicited support and cooperation from the people of Sokoto State for the re-established Hisbah to effectively carry out its responsibilities.
The re-establishment of the Hisbah Corps is part of Governor Aliyu’s 9-point Smart agenda, which prioritizes religious affairs and aims to promote Islamic values and morality in the state ¹.
