Sokoto SURPB Set To Sanitise Metropolis Of Illegally Placed Posters

The removal becomes necessary considering the illegal placement in areas prohibited by the authorities of Sokoto Urban And Regional Planning Board.

The authority of the Board in collaboration with security agencies that embarked on removal of posters on Saturday had removed all illegal posters that are not permitted.

Special Adviser to the Governor, Sokoto Urban and Regional Planning Board Sidi Aliyu Lamido said they embarked on the exercise as the political parties in the state violated all rules governing placement of posters despite the fact they were enlightened on where and how to place their posters.

However, Lamido said the placement ranges from N30, 000 down to N5, 000 considering the location and is continuous whether during electioneering campaigns or otherwise.

Lamido further explained that both the political parties leaders and traditional rulers unanimously agreed to abide with the set rules and regulations of using posters in places agreed upon after fulfilling requirements of the Board.

He outlined religious and all public places as illegal areas to place poster adding that there would be no fear or favor of any political party who violated the set rules as legal justice must be done.

While making a routing continuous duty, Sidi Aliyu Lamido advised all the political parties in the state to come and register, obtain permission before placing posters on billboards or anywhere approved by the Board.
