Governor Ahmad Aliyu has emphasized his administration’s commitment to training public servants in various fields to enhance their performance and drive positive outcomes.
The governor made these remarks at the opening ceremony of a three-day refresher workshop organized for treasury officers, internal auditors, and directors of planning from different government ministries and agencies in Sokoto State.
The workshop, taking place at Kasarawa International Conference Center in Sokoto, was organized by the State Ministry of Finance in collaboration with Millennium Consults.
The focus of the workshop includes the fundamentals of public accounting in a growing economy, budgeting processes, the role of audits in treasury management, cash budgeting in the public sector, treasury management, and ICT, among other topics.
Speaking to the participants, Governor Ahmad Aliyu, represented by the State Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Muhammad Jabbi Shagari, explained that training and retraining civil servants is a key objective of the current administration to enhance their motivation and productivity.
He expressed gratitude to Millennium Consults for their efforts in organizing the workshop and urged participants to apply what they learn to justify the government’s commitment to supporting such training.
Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Sirajo Ibrahim Gada, reported that the State Accountant General, Umar B. Ahmad Tambuwal, noted that the workshop is timely in revitalizing the civil service, which is essential for achieving government objectives.
The coordinating consultant, Professor Bayero A.S. Muhammad, who is also the governor’s special adviser on strategy and public affairs, highlighted that the workshop will contribute to instilling discipline in the management of state resources.
