Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has reportedly survived an alleged assassination attempt just days after his release from detention at Kuje Prison.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday as the rapper was leaving a club in Victoria Island, Lagos. In a video shared on his Instagram page, Speed Darlington revealed that unknown gunmen fired multiple shots at his car, leaving it riddled with bullet holes.
The footage, which captured the damaged vehicle, showed bullet holes in the rear, confirming the attack.
Visibly shaken, the rapper said in the video: “Long face sent killers my way, and I have not even posted anything. Bro, is this necessary? You tried to take my life. Really?”
He accused an unnamed individual of orchestrating the attack and expressed concerns for his safety. However, the identity of the alleged assailant remains unclear.
The rapper’s ordeal has sparked discussions on social media, with fans and followers expressing concern for his well-being. Messages of support and prayers have flooded his comment section.
One fan, identified as Agbons O, wrote, “Na pump action. Them wan just threaten u. Buh for real, this new look fit Akpi o.”
Another follower, @ngreigns, commented: “Chai… You will live and not die. You bring joy to millions, and God will continue to guide you.”
Meanwhile, @nanakwakuwhyte advised him to leave the country, saying: “Leave Nigeria, please, and come back to New York where we, your die-hard fans, can’t afford to lose you.”
Speed Darlington, known for his flamboyant personality and controversial statements, had been detained in Kuje Prison for undisclosed charges before his recent release.
