Squash: Esuene Club Set To Reward Athletes

Foremost Sports Foundation in Akwa Ibom, Jacob Esuene Sports Club has concluded arrangements to honour and reward her athletes who won Gold in the recent national squash competition and other competitions.

President and promoter of the club Engr. Iniobong Esuene told newsmen in Eket weekend that the Club which has been promoting the game of squash at all levels currently have sixty four trainees registered with it’s academy.

According to Esuene, the youngest in the tuition free academy is three years old while all expenses for their participation in tournaments were always paid for all the trainees.

The President lauded the support of some corporate organisations in the area including Villa Marina Hotel, Eket for taking up sponsorship of the club as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

He explained that the mission of the academy is to use Squash as a medium for youth development in the community, State and the country at large.

The event which will take place at Villa Marina Hotel, Eket, would have the Governor Elect of Akwa Ibom, Pastor Umo Eno as Special guest of honour while state sports commissioner Sir Monday Uko would chair the occasion.

Former State Assembly Speaker and current National Assembly member, Barr Onofiok Luke is expected as the special guest while other well meaning individuals , organisations and sports lovers are also expected to grace the occasion.
