The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN, Chairman, Prof. Afolabi Lesi has charged the newly inducted foreign trained Medical and Dental graduates to stay back and be committed to practice in Nigeria.
Prof. Lesi gave this charge on Thursday at the Induction ceremony of newly qualified foreign trained medical and dental graduates who had passed the mandatory MDCN assessment examination.
A total of 605 medical and 16 dental graduates were inducted at the pledge taking ceremony for successful candidates at the MDCN Assessment Examination held at the Council office in Abuja.
He said,” It is crucial for you to stay committed to your practice in Nigeria.”
While assuring the new health workers of better working conditions, Lesi said, “The Council and the Federal Government are working diligently to improve conditions for all health professionals. I encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities that will arise as we continue to make strides in healthcare delivery,” he explained.
The MDCN Chairman said that there is light at the end of the tunnel in the health sector, and also charged them to discharge their duties diligently as professionals.
Lesi welcomed the inductees into the ranks of healthcare providers, reminded them of the critical role they will play in shaping the future of healthcare in Nigeria.
“As practitioners, you are expected to uphold the highest standards of medical and dental care.”
” Remember that your patients will place their trust in you, and it is your responsibility to earn and maintain that trust through your skills, knowledge, and ethical practice, he admonished them.
Furthermore, the successful candidates were commended for their hard work in scoring 70% and above in the MDCN Examination outcomes.
