SUBEB Chairman Challenged Wealthy Individuals To Encourage Education Of Less Fortunate Families

The Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board Alhaji Altine Shehu threw the challenge yesterday while distributing school uniforms to 144 pupils of Kajiji Model Primary School.

Abbas Tukur Sanyinna in a statement said Alhaji Altine Shehu said the call become imperative inview of the fact that many children in the society nowadays could not attend basic schools simply because of the inability of their parents could not provide them with uniforms and other learning materials.

According to him children belongs not only to their immediate parents but rather the entire society hence the need for wealthy to imbibe the culture of sponsoring more especially the education of children of poor in their midsts for the overall development of the society.

He explained that failure to do the needful in this regard will continue to produce youths with limited thinking of indulging into criminal activities as their only way of having a means of living.

Turning to the uniforms he has distributed, Alhaji Altine Shehu said it was in fulfilment of the promised to that effect made when he visited the school on the fifth of October 2022 where he met quite a number of pupils without uniforms.

According to him at the first instance he personally pledged to provide school uniforms to only those he met without them during his inspection visit but later expand the gesture to categories of pupils that need them in the school.

Kajiji to this end called on parent of the benefited pupils to complement the gesture by sending their children in school and maintaining the good sanitary condition of the uniforms.
