    The Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has flagged off the construction of two flyovers and township roads in Jimeta, the state capital.

    Ahmadu during the flag-off ceremony said his administration is focused on the people’s driving needs and taking the state to the next level of development.
    during the event, Fintiri said the projects were part of his campaign promises to the people of the state.
    The governor said that the projects valued at N8.8 billion would be implemented vigorously, as part of his administration’s urban renewal policy.

    “This event marks a milestone in our commitment towards fulfilling the promises made to Adamawa people during our campaigns.

    “ Apart from the aesthetics, the flyover projects will take care of the anticipated population and expansion in the city,” he said.

    Fintiri restated his administration’s commitment to the timely delivery of the projects, saying, “ We shall not concede to failure.”

    He said that the state government had also begun the construction of roads in Michika and Madagali towns as a way of fulfilling its promises to the people.
    “Plans are underway for the provision of roads and health infrastructure in Yola South, Numan, Fufore and other local government areas.”

    Also speaking, Alhaji Adamu Atiku, the state Works Commissioner, said the ministry would indulge in vigorous supervision to ensure that the projects were delivered according to schedule.
    He urged residents of the state to support the government by bearing the inconveniences in traffic flow that the project would cause.

    “I urge the public to support the project, we shall definitely endure some form of inconveniences as we implement these projects,” he said.

    Mr Elie Abu-Farhat, Managing Director, Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited, assured that the firm would deliver within the stipulated period.

    The flyovers to be constructed at Total petrol station junction and the Police Roundabout within the time frame been specified

    Michika, Magdagali Local Government Areas are one of the most vandalize by Boko haram across the state the governor of Adamawa state have Restore the electric power should come as no surprise when Governor Fintiri came up with the rural electrification of the state as a prerequisite, a cardinal one in the state.

    In the face of daring challenges that demand immediate resolution, electric power is a factor of maintaining health and the wellbeing of human beings.It preserves food,drugs thereby saving a lot of loses that could be incurred on a daily basis that have a damaging effect on the national economy. Undeterred the government of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has done all possible to take the hydra-headed beast that bedevils the national economy and has forged ahead to cow the problem of the state and challenge the food problem and at the same time tackle other infrastructural issues that might crop up later. Only those outside the state or traducers fail to see what is done compared to events in other states.

    In a state ravaged by the insurgency occasioned by the Boko Haram carnage ,it is incumbent on the government of Adamawa state to address pressing issues that border on people that have suffered lack of electricity,poor water supply and damaged roads. Gradually this problem is being addressed.

    On the last lap ,the problem of electric power has come to the fore. Electric power that has hitherto failed to reach many communities has now been made a priority and will soon be restored so that such communities will enjoy the lease of life.

    Adamawa as a state over the past one year has baffled many, kept the keel and paid salaries on time and kept the government running in trying time like this.

    Too much can not be said about the lowest revenue earners that has managed the travails of insurgency(external), herders/farmers conflict and other tribal skirmishes. Added to these are the problems of political distractions occasion by politically inclined people whose aim is to cause an unfavorable climate so as to enhance political gains by creating disharmony in the State.

    The government of Adamawa state remains unperturbed as it continues to do what is proper .It will do all possible to provide roads,provide water,provide electricity and do as much as it promised and even more within available resources.

    Gradually,the people of Adamawa that have been ravaged by vandalism and denied the benefits of normal electric power will heave a high relief as the warm touch of Governor Fintiri’s government reaches out to them to give them succor that modern day civilization grants people that ensures normal life for them.

    Even in hard times like this,there are governments that go beyond the basis to do what the people want.

    This time around the flood submerged food stuffs and houses worth million of naira, also destroyed business and other valuable

    When our reporter visited some of the areas affected by flood, report that many places were destroyed, people were seen looking for affected houses restless

    Kisinja Bukar a Yola resident experience dissatisfiction with the government attitude, however said the Adamawa State Government cannot do it alone.

    He appealed to the Federal Government to come to their aid as soon as possible.
    According to him, he could not assertain the level of destruction caused to him by the Wednesday flood, but at the money he has lost everything

    The Wednesday flood affected communities mostly in Yola South Local Government Area and to the extent in Yola North, including Tashan Sani, where a particular family house collapsed, were animals were seen taken away by the flood. Also, Yolde pate was not left behind, as traders lost hundreds of bags of grains in a famous grains market.

    The Patron of the Timber market Tashan Sani. Kenneth Ogoduna, said ” the flood caused a lot of damage in their businesses and have lost over million’s of naira.
    However Adamu Zubairu said they used to experience flood for many years but this year came with surprised and shocked as it caught them unawares
    Also affected by the flood includes Bachure, Kofare, Damilu and Yolde Pate, with some residents still counting their losses of damage.

    Adamawa state deputy governor, Crowther seth faced impeachment threats over allegation involvement in the destruction of lives and property following the incessant attacks of Lunguda and Waja communities of Guyuk local government area of the state.

    The people on Monday protested that Crowther Seth is sacked over the role he played as an allege accomplices on the recent attacks of Dumna-Boshikiri that led to the killing of many people.

    The people who held placards of various inscription asking the Executive Governor of the State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to remove his deputy for harbouring a criminal and a suspected planner, Halilu SY (sarkin Yaki) known as SY who is from Lamurde to have masterminded all the attacks in Guyuk communities.

    The Governor was received by the IDPs, protesting against Crowther, carrying placards with the inscription: Arrest Halilu (SY), he is the cause of the problem Deputy Governor harbouring Halilu SY.

    The stakeholders lamented that Lunguda communities were razed down in the wake of the attacks by the alleged nocturnal gunmen who raided at night.

    The same deputy governor was alleged to have been behind the arrest of only the Hausa Muslim by the policemen in the Ethno-religious crisis in Tingno some weeks previously, where the Hausa community was gruesomely attacked by the tribal militia.

    The governor while responding, said he would set up a panel of enquiry to find out the immediate and remote causes of the crises, assuring that law would take its course.

    Political observers have however articulated that the Lunguda has lost confidence that there would be good governance due to the unending motivate by politics crises in their communities among other parts of the southern senatorial district of the state.

    Adamawa now free of Coronavirus – Govt

    World Health Organisation commended mechanisms put in place by Adamawa state government for managing Coronavirus pandemic in the state.

    The state is now free of Coronavirus cases after it discharged forty-two survivors of COVID-19, including medical personnel who got infected while discharging their duties.

    The state government said after conducting tests for more than 150 persons in the last 16 days, Adamawa state is now free of COVID 19.

    Five people have lost their lives to the Coronavirus in Adamawa State since it recorded its index case on April 22, 2020.

    Chairman of the Containment Committee, Dr. Bashiru Ahmed thanked the development partners like the World Health Organization, UNICEF as well as health workers who have been in the frontline of containing the pandemic.

    The Public Health Department warns residents that COVID-19 is real and urges anyone experiencing symptoms like dry-throat, sneezing, Loss of taste to walk up to COVID-19 centres for testing.

    Presently, Adamawa has five isolation centres having tested more than 374 cases out of which 42 were positive for COVID-19.

    The Adamawa State Government has declared wanted, the Councillor representing Vulpi Ward of Numan Local Government Area, Makana Enan Ngari, on allegations of cattle rustling.

    Governor Ahmadu Fintiri in a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, alleged that the Councilor is suspected of involvement in illegal deals and cattle rustling which is a violation of his oath of office.

    He explained that the action is coming at a time government had succeeded in stabilizing the area after the incessant attacks on villages along the borders of Adamawa and Taraba

    He warned that government will not hesitate to deal with anyone found wanting no matter his position.

    The state government appealed to both herders and Farmers not to take the law into their hands, but allow the law to take its course as it is doing everything possible to ensure that peace prevails.

  • Adamawa shuns court order to reinstates sacked civil service commission members

    Against a court order, Adamawa State government has refused to reinstate members of the state’s Civil Service Commission, constituted by the immediate past administration.

    Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, had upon assumption in 2019, dissolved boards and commissions appointed by his predecessor, Jubrila Bindow.

    Irked by the decision, Chairman and Commissioners of the Civil Service Commission, challenged the governor’s action at the Industrial Court.

    The suit was instituted by, Shuaibu Bobbo Hamid (Chairman), Mohammed Abdu Mayas (Commissioner 1), Amina Kabiru (Commissioner 2), Aliyu Sadiq (Commissioner 3) and Shehu Audu (Commissioner 4), as claimants.

    The respondents were: Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, the state Attorney General and the State Assembly.

    The court held that the dissolution of the commission and subsequent termination of the appointment of the Chairman and four commissioners contravened the law.

    Justice K.D. Damulak therefore held that the dissolution and or termination of the appointments was ultra vires and therefore, unconstitutional, null and void.

    He accordingly ordered that, “a declaration that the claimants as Chairman and Commissioners respectively of the Adamawa state Civil Service Commission, having been appointed by the then governor of Adamawa State, upon confirmation by the state Assembly, are entitled to a guaranteed tenure of five years.

    “A declaration that by the clear provisions of section 199(1-) (c) and 201(1) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), the respondents cannot validly suspend, dissolve, remove or terminate the appointments of the claimants as Chairman and Commissioners of the Adamawa state Civil Service Commission.

    “An order, setting aside the purported dissolution and or suspension of the appointments of the claimants as Chairman and Commissioners as null and void of no effect.

    “An order that the claimants are entitled to their salaries and allowances from 15/04/2019 to 14/042024 unless otherwise removed for inability to discharge the functions of their offices”.

    However, one of the claimants, Mohammed Abdu Mayas, said, “since delivery of the judgment on on 7/6/2019, we have neither been recognized nor paid our salaries or entitlements.

    “Besides, we heard that plans have been concluded by the government to appoint new members to the commission”, he said.

    When contacted, the Attorney General of the state and Commissioner of Justice, Afraimu Jingi merely said, “the claimants should do whatever they want.”

    Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa on Tuesday said a second index case of COVID- 19 had been recorded in the state.
    Our correspondent recalls  that Fintiri, had on April 22, confirmed the first case of COVID-19 in the state.
    Fintiri, in a special broadcast to the people of the state on Tuesday, said the new index case was a medical doctor from Mubi North Local Government area.
    He said that  NCDC latest report on Adamawa, as at Tuesday, confirmed additional one index case in the state.
    ” I received this devastating update that out of eight samples that were pending at the NCDC referral laboratory in Abuja, one turn to be positive, six are negative and one still pending.
    ” With this development, I regret to announced that we now have two COVID-19 confirmed index  in Adamawa.
    ” Having additional case in the state is truly worrisome and most disturbing is the fact that the victim is a medical doctor in one of our hospitals in Mubi, ” Fintiri said.
    He expressed concern that the second victim might have had many contacts in the process of discharging his duty.
    Fintiri said the development placed a lot on government’s shoulder to track and trace many possible contacts that might had met with the victim.
    He said: “the situation not only tedious,  but worrisome “
    The governor said the state might be sliding into the dangerous phase of the pandemic which could be  community transmission of the virus.
    ” When the case is from medical doctor  resident in a public hospital with access to colleagues and in countless patients, the level of community infection can be imagined.
    ” This called for both caution and action to with the re emphasis the need to stay safe and adhere to pandemic’s prevention and management .
    ” With this development, I declared wearing of mouth and nose masks as compulsory to all citizens whenever they go out and in all public functions, ” Fintiri said.
    He called on the people of the state to report any suspected case to the nearest health care facility for immediate action.

    Measles claims 7 children in Adamawa

    The Adamawa Government has confirmed the death of seven children after a measles outbreak in Malabo village in Fufore Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

    Dr Bwalki Dilli, Director, Public Health, in the state Ministry of Health said this while speaking with our correspondents on Wednesday in Yola.
    Dilli said that a report from Executive Secretary of the LG Primary Healthcare Authority, revealed that 25 children were infected with the disease.
    “Out of 25 suspected measles cases from Fufore LGA, seven were childen were confirmed dead.
    “Right from February there had been pockets of suspected measles cases across five LGAs in the state including Fufore,” he said.
    Dilli said that following intensive investigation, the areas affected were discovered to have had a history of rejecting routine immunisation.
    He said adequate measures had been put in place to curtail further spread of the disease.
    Measles is a viral infection commonly among children but is easily preventable through administration of doses of vaccine.

    Insurgency: Commission to take over reconstruction of 3 bridges in Adamawa

    The North East Development Commission (NEDC), says it will take over the reconstruction of three major bridges along the Adamawa-Borno Federal Highway.

    Kuzum, Wurogaide and Dilichim bridges, were destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents in 2014.

    The Federal Government had in 2016, awarded the contract for the reconstruction of the bridges.

    Mohammed Alkali, Managing Director of NEDC, announced this while inspecting the bridges in Michika and Madagali local government areas of Adamawa on Monday.

    Alkali said that the commission intended to take over reconstruction of the bridges following complaints by the governments of Borno and Adamawa.

    “The affected state governments of Adamawa and Borno had made a case for the reconstruction of the collapsed bridges during the North East Governors meeting held recently in Gombe.

    “We are going to discuss with the Federal Ministry of Works and other stakeholders.

    “As soon we fashion out modalities surrounding the projects, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development would take over reconstruction of the  bridges,” Alkali said.

    He assured the people of the commission’s commitment to commence work on bridges sites as soon there was clearance from the works ministry.

    In his remarks, Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, expressed worry over the snail speed of work on the bridges.

    “The contractor handling the work had no capacity to execute the projects; and the N240 million provided for the project was inadequate,” Fintiri said. (NAN)
