Adamawa House of Assembly Averts Illegal Sales of Form on Teachers Recruitment.

    By Musa Isa Ahmed

Lawmakers at the State House of Assembly have averted alleged illegal sells of employment forms to applicants seeking for employment with the State Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB).
The Honourable Members have vowed not to fold their arms and allow some people to sell employment forms to applicants at the cost of #5000, #10,000 or #100, 000 even when the Governor has directed that the forms should be distributed free of charge.
However, the Members have summoned the Executive Secretary of the Board to appear before Joint Committees on Education, Tertiary Institutions and Employment, Labour and Productivity with immediate effect to answer questions.
Additionally, the State Legislators have promised to monitor the distribution of the forms to applicants for justice and fairness, saying that the employment of the 2000 Teachers should be based on merit and nothing else.
The decision of the Members was sequel to a matter of public interest brought before the Honourable House on Tuesday by the Member representing Verre constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak.
Earlier, Hon. Yapak who is also the Chairman House Standing Committee on Employment, Labour and Productivity, briefed his colleagues on the fraud going on the recruitment of the teachers.
Initially, he said that the forms were being sold at the cost of #500, but later the Governor directed that it should be distributed free of charge to applicants, saying that to their utter dismay, the forms were no where to be found.
Hon. Yapak informed his colleagues that he was told by his constituents that the forms are being sold at places at the cost of #5000 to 10,000, noting that he has not seen the reason why the Governor will say should be distributed free of charge and somebody will be sabotaging his effort.
Also speaking, the Majority Leader of the House and Member representing Jada Mbulo constituency, Hammantukur Yetisuri, said that they were told that 100 forms were allocated to every LGA across the state, alleging that those assigned to distribute it went and distributed only 15 copies.
According to him, those assigned to distribute the forms were selling it to applicants, thereby denying many applicants the opportunity to access it and urged the House to identify those behind it and deal with them.
On his part, Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi said if the forms will not be available a portal should be created to enable applicants forward their applications on line.
Also speaking, Hon. Japhet Kefas (Gombi) told his colleagues that the whole blame will be on them as peoples’ representatives if they fail to take necessary action towards rectifying it, and commended Governor Fintiri for lifting the embargo for the employment of unemployed youths.
Baring his mind while presiding over the sitting, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, observed that those who are buying the forms in the name of buying employment with the board are deceiving themselves.
Rt. Hon. Iya Abbas said that the House will not in any way allow commercial employment in Adamawa, saying every applicant must pass through the rigours of examinations/ interviews and any other processes before securing employment.
He asserted  that the board has assured the House that it is printing more forms which will be distributed free of charge as directed by the Governor, and directed the board to take the forms to schools for distribution, and further warned that any principal found selling the forms will be dealt with accordingly.

  • BREAKING: Governor Fintiri relaxes Curfew from 8pm to 6pm in Adamawa

BREAKING: Governor Fintiri relaxes Curfew from 8pm to 6pm in Adamawa

    By Musa Isa Ahmed

The government of Adamawa state has relaxed the 24hour Curfew imposed to it citizens, as the result of recovering of about 50% looting items in peaceful manners.

“Fellow Citizens, circumstances that have unfolded since my last Address to you necessitates that I Address you once again.
I have moved round and assessed the damages and the extent to which the latest mayhem visited on our State has reversed the progress we have made in recovery from the backwardness we inherited.

I do admit that it is colossal even as I feel and share the pains of all our well-meaning citizens.
In the midst of all these, we must all resist the actions and utterances of those whose aim is to gain political mileage over our collective tragedy and misfortunes. Turning the unfortunate mayhem into an issue for political discourse, is the height of insensitivity whose level we cannot be reduced to.
I have reviewed the situation in the State with Security Operatives and duly observed that relative calm is returning across the State.
May I acknowledge and commend the conduct of our citizens who have remained law abiding in spite of the extreme difficulties they had to endure as a result of the measures taken to restore normalcy.

Once more, I feel indebted to all those who have openly and quietly supported and encouraged us to be firm and decisive in dealing with this matter.
As I have always emphasized, this is about the collective progress of Adamawa State regardless of which side one belongs.

Let me commend our citizens generally for their compliance with the curfew and sincerely appreciate those who were misled into participating in the loot, pillage and plunder of our common patrimony, for seeing reason in returning the looted items.
So far, over 50% of the looted items have been recovered and more are being surrendered.
It is not in the character of our citizens to break the law neither are we known for involvement in brigandage.
This is partly why there has been a tremendous response in the voluntary return of the valuable items that were carted away.
Based on the current outcomes and the fact that there is considerable demonstration of remorse and regrets from most of the good citizens who were misled into this unholy act by a few mobsters on the return of the loots, we have resolved to review the implementation strategy of the Executive Order which I signed yesterday.
Part of this review is the fact that the House-to-House search will no longer necessarily be in the form initially envisaged. We encourage landlords to talk to their tenants; Neighbours to talk to each other and parents to talk to their children, should there be any remnants of the loot in any of the households. Whistle blowers are doing their best in the recovery process, I encourage them to do more.

Consequently, Government has relaxed the current curfew regime from 8am to 6pm beginning from Friday 30th October 2020.We shall review this timings as situation warrants.
Meanwhile checkpoints will be mounted at all the entry and exits points of the State. This, for the moment is a measure taken to stop any attempt by the thieves to escape with the looted items out of the State.
Fellow citizens, you must bear with us as these measures are in our collective interests. They are noted to be the best way to prevent further attempts by recalcitrant hoodlums to railroad us into anarchy.
Finally, let me appeal for calm and assure our citizens that together we shall overcome this misfortune.

  • Adamawa; Political Opponent Fintiri’s Tko On Opponents

Adamawa; Political Opponent Fintiri’s Tko On Opponents

    By Musa Isa Ahmed

Kumangar Solomon is the Director General Media and Communication to the Governor of Adamawa State

If Governance is a boxing match between opponents and proponents, it can easily be assumed that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has scored a total TKO on his opponents with a blasting run of activities in the last two weeks.
Since commissioning two mega Flyovers on Tuesday 4th August 2020 which critics say He will never do, the Governor never looked back till He flagged-off the construction of Roads of various distances in Madagali, Michika, Yola North, Yola South, Numan, Jada and Hong Local Governments.

This was nothing short of Declaring a State of Emergency on the condition of roads in the State.
This came long after He commenced the construction of Rural Roads spanning Two Hundred and Eighty-One Kilometres under the Rural Access and Mobility Programme in communities across the State.

But the opposition has been relentless at aiming salvos at the Governor’s recent exploits especially against the Fly-over contracts awarded by His Government.

The opposition has forgotten so early that Fintiri is trying to revive Adamawa State after the APC had brought it to knees through clueless Governance. The APC has also conveniently forgotten how it bastardized Governance, pulverized the economy and pauperized the people, to the extent that the Fintiri Government had to redouble efforts to clean the mess bequeathed by its mindless and sleazy administration.
Regrettably, Fintiri’s drive to change Adamawa’s Story of despair and successive letdowns is being confronted with “bad belle” politics that hinders them from acknowledging good when it is seen.

Besides, what moral right does the opposition have to criticise Fintiri when it ran a Government that slept on duty throughout its four years, only to wake up when it was too late. People who are good at talking about what they are doing, actually do little, but Governor Fintiri who is doing a lot never talks about what He is doing. He lets His actions speak louder.
Fintiri has chosen to dwell on good governance rather than on the blame game. He has been bold enough to gallantly assume responsibility for what went wrong; fixing it and doing the State well.

Fintiri has demystified and broken Adamawa State’s jinx of Arrested Development, hitherto held captive by sleazy and bad Governance and arguably gave it the “breadth of Fresh Air”.
A man well known for His disposition to change narratives, the ATM Governor has promoted a culture of political accommodation that has redefined the parameters of engagement with the opposition.
Those of us familiar with Fintiri know that He has a ferocious work ethic. The Governor is focused, purpose driven, devoted to duty, contemptuous of opulence and impatient with small talk.

This is the main reason why He has largely ignored all the idle talk and focused on delivering His mandate.
Fintiri can be very engaging only on Matters of State and the advancement of His mandate.
He is adept at organizing His official schedules and private live. At home, He is a warm, firm but doting father who gives time to His children, as a hands-on Dad.
A telling contrast to His political contemporaries and associates is His readiness to act unilaterally, defying conventional wisdom, which reflects courage and intellectual capacity.
Interestingly, Fintiri has vowed not to be distracted by the shenanigans of opponents.
The fact remains that His passion to lay the foundation for the redemption of Adamawa State is unshakeable.

By His very actions so far, the ATM Governor has restored the confidence of the average citizen in an enduring social pact, bestowing a breadth of Fresh Air, and redesigning the entirety of Governance for the benefit of citizens.
Thank God, the quintessential non-conformist, shows no sign of slowing down as Government steamrolls towards the Halfway mark.
The ATM Governor Has given His distractors the T.K.O. He, has demonstrated all gusto to survive several other bouts and does not need distractors to sustain the momentum.
In terms of clarity of vision and sincerity of purpose, no Governor Has ever been readier.
In terms of tangible results and transparent control over machinery, no Governor has ever been well prepared and readier.

In terms of well-intentioned public oriented programmes and the political will to implement them, no Governor has been any better.

According to Kumangar Solomon Director General Media and Communication to the Governor of Adamawa State

Procurement of fertilizer for Adamawa state must follow due process says Fintiri

    By Musa Ahmed, Jalingo

The Adamawa State Commissioner for Agriculture Mitikishe DishiKhobe has said the procurement of Fertilizer for farmers in Adamawa State must follow a due process as directed by the state governor for security reasons since clearance must first be obtained from the Office of the National Security Adviser who has placed a ban on the product following the usage of some Fertilizer by insurgents in making explosives.

Speaking further the Commissioner maintained that ameliorating the plight of farmers remains a topmost priority of the Fintiri led Administration and that government is working round the clock to make sure farmers adequately benefit from this gesture.

“I am assuring the people of Adamawa that fertilizer will come. I don’t want to procure fertilizer as is the case with other organisations and individuals. I must follow the process of acquiring the product by obtaining a waiver to procure fertilizer from the office of the National Security Adviser. I am very much confident that it will be granted and the people will appreciate us. Mind you a ban has been placed on fertilizer since 2018 in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno States. Any government that will purchase this must be cleared. The reason was because of the use of the products especially Urea in weaponry by insurgents. The governor share in the plight of farmers and pray the Almighty God to give us the strength to deliver on all our promises”. He said.
