    2023: Tinubu Meets With Afenifere Leaders in Akure, Delivers Manifesto

    The presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has arrived in Akure, Ondo State, as part of his campaigns ahead of the 2023 presidential elections.

    Tinubu arrived in the state on Sunday afternoon to meet with the leader of the pan-Yoruba organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti in his Akure country home.

    The APC presidential candidate will be presenting his Action Plan on how to reposition the country to the Yoruba Yoruba cultural and political organisation.

    The 80-page Action Plan document christened Renewed Hope, was formally launched in Abuja on 21 October by President Muhammadu Buhari.

    With the arrival of Tinubu and his entourage, party supporters as well as some residents of the state trooped out to welcome him to the sunshine state.

    On the entourage of Tinubu to the state were Chief Bisi Akande, Senator Adeyeye, Senator Iyiola Omisore among others.

    Staff of ShopRite in Akure are protesting over the sale of the company without giving them consideration in the deal.

    Armed with placards with different inscriptions, the protesting staff said they were treated by the management like slaves.

    The aggrieved staff said the action of the management is highly inhuman

    Protest rocks Akure in supports of Akeredolu’s vacation order to Herdsmen

    There was heavy protest in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Thursday as commercial drivers, members of the Nigeria Forest Services known as Forest guards, farmers and traders stormed the streets protesting in support of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu order to herdsmen to vacate forest reserves in the state within seven days.

    The protesters carried placards urging the Ondo Governor not to back down on his directive.

    Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Comrade Jacob Adejo, said commercial drivers were no longer safe in the state.

    Adejo said his members need protection as herders attacked them with impunity as well as kidnapped them before now.

    INEC Boss, heads of security agencies meet in Akure

    Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Yakubu Mahmood is set to meet with stakeholders ahead of Saturday’s Govenorship election in Ondo State.

    Those expected at the meeting are all the heads of security agencies in the state.

    The military says it will deploy between 200 and 300 soldiers to the coastal areas which have been identified as hot spots.

    INEC had in September met with the traditional rulers in Ondo state for a hitch free governorship election in October.

    INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu at the meeting with the Council of Obas in the state at the Cocoa hall of the Governor’s office in Akure, also told the traditional rulers that the commission has implemented 12 of the 14 scheduled activities for the October election.
