A new political support group, Tinubu Barau Mafitar Kano, has emerged in Kano State with a pledge to mobilise youth voters and secure increased support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. The group was formally unveiled in Kano on Thursday by its convener, Comrade Mustapha Umar Tallo Gwarzo, popularly known as Mustapha Coach, who said the initiative is focused on supporting the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and promoting the political ambition of Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin Maliya. Speaking at the event, Gwarzo said the Tinubu Barau Mafitar Kano group was established to strengthen grassroots mobilisation across the state and contribute meaningfully to the APC’s electoral success in 2027. He noted that the group also aims to encourage Senator Barau Jibrin to contest the Kano State governorship election.

According to him, the group has a clear vision and organisational structure designed to galvanise youths across Kano State. He said young people remain a critical voting bloc and must be actively engaged to ensure victory for the APC at both national and state levels.“ We are becoming stronger and more organised. Our goal is to mobilise youths across Kano State to ensure that the APC wins the 2027 presidential and governorship elections with a clear margin,” Gwarzo said. “That is why we formed a formidable grassroots movement capable of delivering results.”He added that the Tinubu Barau Mafitar Kano campaign group would operate from ward to state level, using coordinated mobilisation strategies to generate votes and strengthen party loyalty among young voters.

Gwarzo further explained that the group’s activities would align with the broader objectives of the APC, particularly in consolidating support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid. He described President Tinubu as a “dynamic leader” whose re-election would ensure continuity of governance and development initiatives. On Senator Barau Jibrin Maliya, Gwarzo said the group believes the Deputy Senate President has the political experience and leadership capacity to govern Kano State. He stated that the group would actively promote Barau’s candidature should he declare interest in the governorship race.

The leadership structure of the Tinubu Barau Mafitar Kano group was also announced at the event. Gwarzo was named Chairman, while Aminu Habibi Tudun Wada will serve as Secretary. Other officials include Abba Usman as Treasurer, Aminu Bala Shanono as Organising Secretary, Umar Lawan Ungogo as Public Relations Officer I, and Abba Umar as Public Relations Officer II.Gwarzo assured that the group would adopt an inclusive approach, bringing together youths from different backgrounds and communities within Kano State. He said plans were already underway to expand the group’s reach beyond Kano to other parts of the North in the near future. The National Chairman of the Conference of APC Publicity Secretaries and Nasarawa State APC Publicity Secretary, High Chief Otaru Douglas, has commended former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Abubakar Adamu for his ongoing grassroots engagement with party executives across Nasarawa State.

Chief Otaru described the former IGP’s outreach as a “novel democratic approach” to stakeholder engagement, noting that such interactions have long been neglected within party structures.

Speaking during a consultative meeting in Karu Local Government Area on Sunday, Otaru said Adamu’s visits to various local government areas to interface with APC executives would strengthen party unity, revive grassroots participation, and enhance the party’s visibility ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He commended Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, the leader of the APC in Nasarawa State, for allowing democratic consultations despite growing political tension in the build-up to 2027.

“Although the ban on campaign activities has not been lifted, aspirants are only permitted to consult with stakeholders and party leaders in a civil and democratic manner,” Otaru stated.

The APC spokesman, however, cautioned against rising verbal and social media attacks among party members, warning that such actions could harm the party’s image and cohesion.

“I want to appeal to our political gladiators and their supporters at all levels to apply wisdom, decorum, and civility in addressing our internal differences. We are members of one family, and our differences should be handled internally if we must succeed as a party,” he said.

Otaru urged members to refrain from making public statements or court filings against fellow party members, stressing the need to strengthen the party’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms.

“It is not right for us as the ruling party to set a bad democratic precedent. We must emulate the leadership style of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Abdullahi Sule, who are working tirelessly to improve governance and party unity,” he added.

Meanwhile, former IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, during his consultative meeting with APC stakeholders and executives from various wards in Karu, urged politicians to ensure that citizens feel the true benefits of democracy.

Adamu, who is also a governorship aspirant under the APC in Nasarawa State, lamented the neglect of party executives and supporters after elections, emphasizing that inclusivity and welfare should be central to the party’s operations.

He pledged to review the welfare conditions of party members and improve political infrastructure across the state if elected, assuring that his visit was not for campaign purposes but for consultation and dialogue.

“I am not here to campaign but to interface with our people and appeal for restraint as we approach 2027,” Adamu said.
