    Popular Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo’s daughter, Priscilla Ajoke Ojo has reacted to Burna Boys loss at the Grammys. According to 19-year-old Priscilla, she thanks God that Burna Boy did not win Grammy Awards. This is coming after Burna Boy shaded Davido by insinuating that his father’s money paved the way for him.

    Priscilla who is a die hard fan of Davido did not find what Burna Boy said funny at all. She decided to react to Burna Boy’s claim on twitter.

    She wrote “I just want to thank God Burna boy didn’t win Grammy Award. I said what I said!”

    Recall that in the early days of 2020, Burna Boy had the country buzzing after he was nominated for the Grammy Awards in the World Best Music Album category. He eventually lost to Beninese singer-songwriter, Angelique Kidjo and for this reason that Priscilla is grateful to God after his recent shady saga with her favourite singer.

    Grammy Award: Burna Boy loses Best World Music Album to Beninese Angélique Kidjo

    Nigerian Afro-fusion singer, Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has lost the Best World Music Album trophy to Beninese ace singer, Angélique Kidjo, at the 62nd Grammy Award.

    The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, acclaimed to be world’s most prestigious music honours, held on Sunday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, U.S.

    The highly coveted Best World Music Album is an honor presented to recording artists for quality albums in the world music genre at the grammy.

    Burna Boy was nominated for the category for his ‘African Giant’ album alongside Altin Gun (Gece), Bokante and Metropole Orkest Conducted By Jules Buckley (What Heat), Nathalie Joachim With Spektral Quartet (Fanm D’ayiti) and Angelique Kidjo (Celia).

    The Grammy Award nominees are albums containing at least 51 per cent playing time of new vocal or instrumental World Music recordings.

    Kidjo, now  with her fourth Grammy win overall in the category, is a 59-year-old singer-songwriter, actress and activist noted for her diverse musical influences and creative music videos.

    She is known for her hit songs “Agolo”, “We We”, “Adouma”, “Wombo Lombo”, “Afirika”, “Batonga” and “Celia”, which clinched the fourth Grammy for her and  was  named “Africa’s premier diva” by Time magazine in 2007.

    During her acceptance speech, Kidjo dedicated the award to Burna Boy and celebrated a new generation of African artists coming up to represent the continent.

    “This is for Burna Boy,” she said, lifting up her award to cheers, and declaring the “African Giant” as part of the new generation of African musicians that are changing global perception of Africa and its music.

    “Four years ago on this stage, I was telling you that the new generations of artists coming from Africa gonna take you by storm and the time has come,” Kidjo said.

    A win for Burna Boy would have made it the second time a Nigerian would be returning home with the Grammy plaque, as Sikiru Adepoju is the only Nigerian to have won a Grammy.

    Adepoju won it in 2009 with the “Global Drum Project” a collaborative album with Mickey Hart, Zakir Hussain and Giovanni Hidalgo.

    Burna Boy in 2019, won Best International Act at the 2019 BET Awards, and was also the Apple Music’s Up Next artist.

    The Annual Grammy Awards ceremony, now in its 62 edition, recognises the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year.

    Billie Eilish 18-year-old American singer and songwriter, swept the top awards of the 2020 Grammy, winning Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. (NAN)

    Burna Boy wins 2019 Young Person of the Year Future Awards

    The 28-year-old Nigeria rave of the moment in Music and Entertainment industry, Damini Ogulu aka Burna Boy on Sunday emerged winner of the 2019 Young Person of the Year Future Awards.

    The 2020 Grammy Award nominee got two awards as the Young Person of the Year and also the Prize for Music at the event held at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island in Lagos.

    Other winners during the gala night are Future Prize for Agriculture that went to Uka Eje, the founder of the Thrive Agric, that has funded over 15, 000 farmers across Nigeria.

    For the Future Award Prize for Media, Samuel Ajiboye clinched the gong as a young entrepreneur and a Country Manager, Alpha and Jam a company that has presence in four African countries.

    Mr Israel Adesanya, Nigerias World Champions in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) mixed martial art, a kick boxer got the prize for Sport.

    The Future Award for Education went to Olaseni Cole, who runs an empowerment programme aimed at preparing and equipping children with skills within the tech-space. The project has impacted over 3,000 children in Lagos and Ogun.

    The Prize for Technology went to Zang Luka Bot, the inventor of the Foot House, an interaction traditional mouse that allows people with upper limb disability to interface computer with their leg.

    The Prize for Fashion went the way of Sandra Tuboboreni, CEO, TUBO, a multi award winning global brand.

    The Future Awards for Africa for Public Service got the way of Adetola Onayemi, an international lawyer, the head, Trade Remedies/Assistant Trade and investment in the Office of the Vice President.

    The Future Award Prize for Arts went to Ken Nwadiogu, a multidisciplinary artist and contemporealist. He founded the fast growing Artland Contemporary Ltd.

    The Future Award for Acting was won by Tmini Egbuson, an actor in the MTV television series Shuga.

    The Prize for Advocacy was won by 32 year-old Hamsat Lawal, who led a successful campaign in over 40 countries and specializes in practical issues related with Climate Change and others.

    For the Prize for Community Action, was won by Isaac Success the founder Dreams from the Slum (DFTS), an empowerment initiative to reduce high number of Out-of-School children in Nigeria.

    The Prize for On Air Personality (OAP) was won by Simi Drey Adejumo, a broadcaster with Beat FM.

    The Prize for Film Making was won by Dare Olaitan for his efforts in the blockbuster film, “Ojukokotro (Greed) and “Knockout Blessing’’. He also clinched the 15th Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

    The Future Award for Photography was won by Tolani Alli, the personal photographer to the Vice President. She has featured on BBC News, World Press and other international media houses.

    The Award for Journalism was won by Shola Lawal, a freelance journalist, covering social justice, development and Creativity.

    The Future Awards for Professional Service was won by Bukky Akomolafe, the Commercial Manager at Travelsstart, Africa’s largest online travel agency.

    Future Awards Africa has been termed as the Nobel Prize for Young Africans and the most important youth awards by Forbes.

    It is a set of prizes given annually to celebrate and accelerate innovation, creativity and enterprise amongst young Africans aged 18 to 31 and has produced over 150 winners and over 1,550 nominees since its first edition in 2006.

    It is presented in conjunction with The Future Project, which has a mandate to build empowered citizens across Africa, through (inclusive) enterprise and (active) citizenship.

    This focus on Human Capital Development is informed by our value proposition: Africa’s growth needs a generation of young people who are gainfully employed and able to demand and secure better leadership.

    The projects include Aiki.ng, an employability portal presented with Microsoft; the Nigeria Symposium for Young & Emerging Leaders, #StartupsAfrica, Intern4Jobs, YMonitor.org presented with National Endowment for Democracy (NED),
