Barcelona’s Marc Guiu in Advanced Talks to Join Chelsea

    By Milcah Tanimu

Barcelona striker Marc Guiu is reportedly in advanced negotiations to leave the club and join Barcelona striker Marc Guiu side Chelsea. According to Gerard Romero, Chelsea is set to trigger Guiu’s €6 million release clause, with Sunday’s promotion play-off likely being his final game for the Catalan club.

Guiu, who broke into Barcelona’s first team last season and scored twice, found his playing time limited as the season progressed, particularly after the arrival of Vitor Roque. Despite interest from Bayern Munich and Sevilla, it appears Chelsea is leading the race to secure the young striker’s services.

Guiu’s current contract with Barcelona runs until 2025, but he has yet to sign an extension, making a summer transfer increasingly likely. Alongside Guiu, other players such as Pau Victor, whose loan is ending, and Vitor Roque, who is also rumored to be on the move, may also depart from Barcelona this summer.

Chelsea Rules Out January Move for Napoli’s Osimhen

    By Milcah Tanimu

Reports suggest that Chelsea is no longer considering a January move for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The need for additional attacking options, particularly behind Nicolas Jackson, has been a priority for the club, given injuries to Armando Broja and Christopher Nkunku in the past year.

Despite Jackson’s recent hat-trick and strong performances, Chelsea had been linked with Osimhen. However, Football London now reports that a January deal for the Nigerian striker is unlikely due to the substantial fee involved.

The report indicates that Chelsea paid a significant amount to sign Enzo Fernandez last January but is hesitant to make a similar investment this time. Ivan Toney of Brentford is reportedly another option, with a lower fee expected.

While Chelsea remains undecided about entering the market for a new striker in January or waiting until next summer, the club recognizes the need for depth, especially considering Nkunku’s and Broja’s injury histories.

Nkunku, who scored 58 goals in his final two seasons with RB Leipzig, faced fitness issues recently, and Broja has proven to be a valuable option for Mauricio Pochettino after recovering from a serious knee injury.

If Chelsea decides to bring in Osimhen or Toney, it could impact Broja’s future at the club, with the Albanian potentially becoming the third choice behind Jackson and the soon-to-return Nkunku.

Despite concerns earlier in the season about Chelsea’s attacking capabilities, recent performances have seen them find the back of the net more consistently, easing some of the pressure on the need for immediate reinforcements.

Club co-owners Boehly, Behdad Eghbali, Jose E. Feliciano, Mark Walter and Hansjorg Wyss added in a joint statement: ‘The sporting team conducted a diligent and thoughtful process that the Board is proud of.

‘We are delighted that Mauricio will be joining Chelsea. Mauricio is a world-class coach with an outstanding track record. We are all looking forward to having him on board.’

The Argentine – who has been out of work since being sacked by PSG last summer – emerged as the frontrunner for the job after Julian Nagelsmann dropped out of the running and has impressed owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali. He will become their fourth manager since they took control of the club.

Chelsea Fires Graham Potter, Appoint Saltor As Interim Coach

Chelsea Football Club has announced that Graham Potter has departed the club, saying that the coach has agreed to collaborate with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition.

The club in a statement on Sunday also announced that Bruno Saltor will take charge of the team as Interim Head Coach.

In his time with the Chelsea, Potter has taken the club to the quarter final of the Champions League, where they will face Real Madrid.

“Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contribution and wish him well for the future,” the statement from the club said.

Co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali were quoted to have said, “On behalf of everyone at the club, we want to thank Graham sincerely for his contribution to Chelsea. We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person. He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome.

  • Ronaldo To Miss Man Utd Game Against Chelsea

Ronaldo To Miss Man Utd Game Against Chelsea

Manchester United have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of their squad for the trip to Chelsea this Sunday.

This was confirmed in a statement released by the club on Thursday.

“Cristiano Ronaldo will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s Premier League game against Chelsea.

“The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture,” the statement read.

The punishment was imposed by United manager, Erik ten Hag, a day after Ronaldo left Old Trafford early during their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The decision has been backed by the club’s hierarchy.

It is believed Ten Hag would approve Ronaldo leaving in the January window given the 37-year-old’s discontent at being at the club.

  • Graham Potter Agrees Terms with Chelsea to Become next Coach

Graham Potter Agrees Terms with Chelsea to Become next Coach

Graham Potter has verbally agreed on terms of his contract to become Chelsea’s new manager.

Chelsea made Potter their No 1 target after sacking Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday September 8, and swiftly received permission from Brighton to speak to him. A substantial compensation payment understood to be about £16m will need to be paid.

Potter is now going over a few final details of the contract this morning and is expected to be in the Chelsea dugout, along with his Brighton staff, for the Blues’ match against Fulham on Saturday.

The Seagulls boss was due to speak to the media on Thursday ahead of his current side’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth and is expected to address his exit from the club.

Potter quickly emerged as Chelsea’s No 1 target and he was locked in advanced talks with the Blues on Wednesday night, thrashing out an agreement.

Former Liverpool sporting director, Michael Edwards and ex-Tottenham and Southampton recruitment guru Paul Mitchell are among those being considered by Chelsea.

Potter, 47, is understood to have a release clause of at least £12m in his contract, meaning Brighton are powerless to stop their manager from leaving.

Recruitment analyst Kyle Macaulay and first-team coach Billy Reid are among the Brighton staff set to follow Potter to southwest London.

Tuchel was sacked on Wednesday hours after his side’s 1-0 defeat at Dinamo Zagreb, Chelsea’s third loss in seven games.

A Chelsea spokesman said: ‘As the new ownership group continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.’

Chelsea, who sixth, will now hope they can get an immediate bounce from the imminent arrival of Potter in a bid to breathe new life in their domestic and Champions League campaigns.

  • Chelsea Sack Manager Tuchel After Dinamo Zagreb Defeat

Chelsea Sack Manager Tuchel After Dinamo Zagreb Defeat

Chelsea on Wednesday sacked manager Thomas Tuchel just seven games into the season following a chastening 1-0 Champions League defeat at Dinamo Zagreb.

The London club said in a statement they had “parted company” with the German, who led them to Champions League glory in 2021 and the Club World Cup crown earlier this year.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain boss, 49, leaves Stamford Bridge after less than 20 months in charge.

“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the club would like to place on record its gratitude to Thomas and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the club,” the Premier League club said in a statement.

“Thomas will rightly have a place in Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League, the Super Cup and Club World Cup in his time here.”

The Stamford Bridge club, under new owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, defended the timing of the decision.

“As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition,” the statement said.

Chelsea are sixth in the Premier League table after three wins, one draw and two defeats in their opening six matches.

Chelsea’s coaching staff will take charge of the team as the club “moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach”.

Boehly’s consortium paid a world-record fee of £4.25 billion ($4.9 billion) for a sports franchise to buy Chelsea from Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich in May.

The ambitious US magnates are in the process of overhauling the club and have acted quickly to unseat Tuchel.

Chelsea’s statement read in part: “Chelsea Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for a new ownership group, led by Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjoerg Wyss, to acquire the Club.
