    Cleric to offer skills acquisition training to 5,000 youths in A’ Ibom

    The General Overseer of His Divine Redeemed World Ministries (AKA the Bride of Christ), Dr Elijah Jack has concluded arrangements to train 5,000 youths in skill acquisition in Akwa Ibom.

    Jack who made this known during the courtesy visit by Nigerian Christian Youths Organisation ( NCYO) on Wednesday said he was committed to serving mankind especially the youths to acquire skills and Entrepreneurship for their development.

    The Cleric explained that 50 youths drawn from each of the local government area of the state would be selected for the said training just to ameliorate their sufferings.

    ” I have started looking into youths empowerment as a mandate that I must carry out in the society not by compulsion but by doing it because it is important that I should affect lives positively.” He said.

    He listed programmes they have embarked to include providing help for the needy , Apprenticeship programmes for the Disable persons, donation of Christian books to schools libraries in the state, youths enlightenment programmes in dangers of drug abuse, alcoholism, cultism , kidnapping and other social vices in the society .

    President of the Organisation Mr Nse Gabriel while presenting and excellent service award to Apostle Elijah Jack disclosed that the group has inaugurated education/ welfare endowment fund to generate funds for scholarship and welfare programmes for members.

    He announced an inter states prayer conference in Port Harcourt on the theme ” Our story shall be different” and requested for financial support from the church to assist them in the programme.

    Gabriel appreciated the General overseer for demonstrating exemplary leadership laced with human attitude to various persons for the advancement of humanity.

    ” This indeed testifies of your administrative prowess and transparent honesty , which has not only been heard but seen . We will not fail to commend your spiritual upbringing of the youths and other humanitarian gestures towards the less privileged in the society” he said

    Cleric calls for fervent prayer for peace in Borno

     An Islamic Cleric, Muhammad Mustafa, has called for sustained prayer for peace as more insurgents surrender to the military in Borno.

    Mustafa mae the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  in Maiduguri on Thursday.

    He urged Muslims to use the significant period of “Tasu’ah” and “Ashura” beind observed on 9th and 10 of Islamic Calender (Muharram) which is equivalent to Wednesday and Thursday for voluntary Fasting, to fast and pray for divine intervention and fpr lasting peace in Borno and the nation in general.

    ”The act of surrendering by the insurgents,  took many by surprise and should be consolidated with prayers and optimism instead of shock and pessimism as being observed expressed by some residents,” he said.

    Mustafa, who is the Imam of University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) Friday Mosque, urged citizens to have faith in God that an end is now is sight after 12 years.

    “Let us use this moment to pray that this is a divine intervention that will bring the desired lasting peace to Borno.

    “Let’s pray that all those involved are sincere and committed to peace.

    “Let’s pray for God to come between us and anyone, or group that is benefiting from the crisis and want to constitute a stumbling block to actualisation of lasting peace in Borno,” Mustafa said.

    While explaining the importance of  the fast to mark the Tasu’ah and Ashura, Mustafa observed that according to the Hadith of the Holy Prophet, whoever fasts the days would be forgiven his sins for a whole year.

    Ramadan Fast: Cleric urges Muslims to trust in Allah for daily provisions

    An Islamic cleric, Sheik Abdul Isola, has urged the Muslim faithful to trust in Almighty Allah for their daily provisions as they observed their compulsory 30-day fast in this month of Ramadan.

    Daybreak reports that Ramadan, which is the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calander, started April 24, after the sighting of the moon, which was verified by National Moon Sighting Committee.

    Isola, who is the Chief Imam of the Islamic Centre, Uwani, Enugu, gave the admonition while speaking with our correspondents on Friday in Enugu.

    He said that Almighty Allah, the Most Merciful and Benevolent, always had a  way of providing for His own that go about doing His will even in the time of hardship such as we have now.

    “Almighty Allah the Most Merciful and Benevolent daily feeds the birds of heaven that do not cultivate anywhere as well as the large number of fish in the ocean that does not store food anywhere.

    “I sincerely believe that He will definitely provide for His own this time, since He clearly understands the situation,’’ he said.

    He, however, called on governments, organisations and wealthy individuals to provide for Nigerians, especially Muslim communities, neighbourhoods and households this period.

    “The truth is that government, groups and individuals have been giving their widow’s mite but the present situation, which is known as a situation of `water don pass garri’ in our local parlance, is really hurting everyone financially.

    “The way the current pandemic is affecting economic and financial standing of groups and individuals is terrible.

    “However, we should not fail to share with our neighbours notwithstanding how small what is given looks like,’’ Isola, who is Chief Missioner of the centre, said.

    He urged Muslim Ummah to use the period to atone for sins, repent and pray fervently for Allah’s mercy over the sins and negative life-style of men that must have brought coronavirus to earth.

    According to him, coronavirus pandemic is the anger of Allah over sins and sodomy on earth.

    COVID-19: Cleric advises Muslims during Ramadan

    The Chief Imam of Ife in Osun,  Alhaji AbdulSemiu AbdulHammed, has urged muslims to comply with government stay-at-home order during the Ramadan.

    AbdulHammed gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Ile-Ife.

    He said “Coronavirus is a pandemi and real”.

    The cleric admonished muslims to take heed to all dos and don’ts prescribed by health personnel and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to combat the pandemic.

    According to him, religious leaders should desist from gathering members together for observing congregational prayers during the period.

    He observed that this year’s fasting would be quite different from the others in the past because of the pandemic.

    AbdulHammed reminded the public of using sanitisers, observe social distancing, covering of the mouth and nose where necessary.

    The cleric advised the public to cooperate with the state government and give full support for directives on how to fight the disease.

    Insecurity: Cleric urges continuous prayers

    Sheikh Aliyu Suleiman, Chief Imam of Brighter Jumma’ah Mosque, Minna, has called for continuous prayers for the country to overcome its current security challenges.

    Sheikh Suleiman made the call during his Friday sermons at the Mosque in Minna.

    He said seeking divine intervention would help to tackle kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities being perpetrated in some parts of the country.

    He said the life of every citizen was precious, and that it was worth protecting.

    The Cleric also called for an end to bloodshed in the country, stressing that whether that of a Christian or a Muslim, “every life is precious to God”.

    He called on security agencies in the country to flush out criminals and enemies of the country.

    “We must live in peace with one another irrespective of socio-cultural and religious backgrounds, if the country is to develop,” he said.

    Suleiman also called on the Federal Government to put an end to the “senseless killings, in the name of kidnapping and banditry going on in some parts of the country”.

    He expressed concerns over the continued killing of innocent people by bandits in Rafi, Shiroro, Munya and Mashegu local government areas. (NAN)
