#EndSARS: Seun Kuti Reacts After Govt. Threatened to Close Down Afrika Shrine

Nigerian singer Seun Kuti has reacted to the alleged threats by the government to shut down the Afrika Shrine over his plans to hold the #EndSars movement meeting in its premises.

In a post shared via his Instagram page on Monday, November 16, 2020, the singer said the government called his older sister, Yeni Kuti, and threatened to close the shrine should he go ahead with the meeting.

“So yesterday the government called my eldest sister @yeniakuti and threatened to close the shrine if I hold my event there tmr and also sent a letter to back it up. I respect my family’s decision not to hold the event as is,” he wrote.

“But I will still go ahead with all the other organizations to launch THE MOVEMENT OF THE PEOPLE tomorrow and start our political resistance to the tyranny of this oppressive regime. Slide left and you will see the flier. This is a meeting, just a meeting of organizations and they are basically banning the right of association.”

“Why are they afraid of the people organising? What is democratic about this act? The last time we tried to launch the government quickly called curfew and this time they have used threat but you can’t stop the will of the people. #getthesax #liberationgeneration #wenodoagain #endoppression.”

Kuti has been quite vocal both on social media and the protest grounds since the #EndSars movement began.

The Afrika Shrine is an open air entertainment centre located in Ikeja, Lagos State built by the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti in 1970.

It is currently being managed his eldest son Femi and daughter, Yeni, after it was burnt down in 1977.

#EndSARS: Police plans to Arraign #EndSARS protester, Eromosele On Tuesday

It is a tortuous journey for Eromosele Adene, an #EndSARS protester, as he will be arraigned before a Chief Magistrate in Lagos on Tuesday.

The embattled youth was arrested in Lagos on November 7 by the police and whisked to Abuja, the nation’s capital days later.

Eromosele is charged with allegations of aiding the #EndSARS protest in Lagos.

The case was initially scheduled to hold on Monday on allegations of financial support to the youth protest that was later hijacked by hoodlums in some states in the country.

His sister, Onomene, had explained that she was used as bait by a group of security operatives to get to her brother.

Onomene, who was a guest recently on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, said she got a call from a man who claimed to be a former church member and who had a parcel to deliver to her father who is the pastor of the church.

On getting to the meeting venue, she stated that she could not figure out the man’s face, and as she approached him, she discovered that the parcel was not what the man claimed it was.

Eromosele’s sister added that they were later joined on the spot by more policemen before she was asked to take them to their house where the embattled protester was arrested.

She condemned the arrested of her brother and called for his release, saying he has a liver infection, and his continued detention was harmful to his health.

#EndSars: Reps ready to support FG’s efforts to rebuild Lagos, other states – Gbajabiamila

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, has said that the House is ready to support the interventions of the Federal Government to rebuild Lagos and other states worst hit by the recent EndSars protests.
Gbajabiamila also tasked Lagosians to put heads and resources together to rebuild the state in view of the destruction of properties worth billions of naira in the state.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Board of Trustees of the Rebuild Lagos Trust Fund on Monday in Lagos, Gbajabiamila said he was heartbroken after going round the state for an on-the-spot assessment of the devastation that followed the unrest.
He said it is time for Lagosians to put aside partisan politics and stand up to rebuild the state, saying “I believe more than ever before that saying, Eko o ni baje, and the quick reply is, O baje ti’.
“I believe in my heart, that this saying can never be truer than now, that Eko o ni baje, o de baje ti. (Never will Lagos go bad, never).
“We will rebuild this state with everything that we need, with all the tools at our disposal, we will rebuild Lagos. This is the time to prove it, that Eko o ni baje,” he said.
He said in rebuilding the state, there should be a public-private partnership, which he said would be one of the best ways to face the task.
“I think it goes beyond budget or appropriation. It will call for a special intervention from the Federal Government to make sure that monies are devoted, not just to Lagos, although Lagos bears the major devastation.
“So it’s going to be panoramic; it’s going to be for all the states, but we all know that Lagos bears the brunt of the devastation.
Gbajabiamila said in working for Nigerians, the 9th House would try as much as it could to abide by its slogan, which is ‘Nation Building: A Joint Task.
“So we will pull all our friends and colleagues and talk to them that we don’t look at this from a state or political prism but a nationalistic point of view and make sure that what needs to be done would be done.
“We will remain our brother’s keepers. That’s what we do in the National Assembly, be our brother’s keepers, and that’s what we will do for Lagos State and the rest of the country.”

#EndSARS: Provide Evidence Of Protesters Killed at Lekki, Get 1m -Rights Group

Save Nigeria Movement, a foremost rights group in Nigeria has pledged to offer a cash prize of one million naira to any Nigerian who would take a bold step beyond media speculation and tender evidence of identities of people allegedly shot at the Lekki toll gate on October 20 during The EndSARS protests.

Speaking at a radio program on Radio Nigeria , the convener of the Save Nigeria Movement, Rev Solomon Semaka insisted that it was curious that three weeks after the incident , no evidence is produced to confirm allegations he termed fake media speculation.

“We are committed to holding the the military accountable if found culpable but, not without credible evidence. On our own, we have done multiple interventions and investigations but no evidence is available to establish the allegations against the the military so we are relying on any individual or organization that has evidence to bring it forth.

“Our organization will reward such persons or group with the sum of one million naira.

“We are concerned that it appears, there are concerted efforts and resources put together to tarnish the security agencies and military image. This is with a view to dampen personnel morale and bruise the confidence of Nigerians in their own military.

“We will leave no stone unturned to unravel those behind this conspiracy in the interest of out nation’s sovereignty,” Rev Solomon Semaka maintained

#ENDSARS: Account for your action – NGO tells FG

    Abel  Leonard/ lafia
The National Coordinator, advocacy for Quality  Leadership and Health awareness  Foundation, Eng. Anselm Ijebor has  blamed the federal government  for the loss of innocent Nigerian youth and properties at the wake of the ENDSARS protest in the country.

According to the National Coordinator of the NGO, who said  the Nigerian government did  not show concern or  any sign of meeting the demand of the protesters at the given  time .
Engr. Amsolem Ijebor while addressing Journalists in Lafia, the Nasarawa state Capital, maintaining  that  the #ENDSARS protest  should not have escalated  given that the Nigerian government had shown signs  of meeting the demand of the protesters
He said the new attempts by the government to further muzzle the democratic rights of the people sparked off the youth  organising themselves and demanding for their rights.
“People must have the socio-political consciousness that  the youth have  the right  to protest and make demands to reclaim the country. What happened during the #EndSARS protest is  a signal that the federal government  has failled  the nation and must live to meet the yearning, aspirations and desires of the people”, Eng Ijebor declared.
The National coordinator who is a member of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, Fellow of Nigeria   Technologist in Engineering  said nothing is wrong  with ENDSARS  protest, but what led to the violent  protest was administrative incompetence in handling the agitation of the youths.
“Why the  youths resorted to violent protest was as a result of the government inability to manage the situation. It is either we fix Nigeria or we die trying to have a better country for the generations yet unborn.
The mood should be that we want to reclaim the country, the country belongs to us. All resources in the country belong to us and not a few rich,” he said.
“An average Nigerian should be inspired by those that died during the protest, those martyrs that laid down their lives and the desire ultimately is to transform Nigeria into a socialist state,” Eng. Ijebor stated.
While accepting that  diologue and nagotiation are veritable instrument of peace, Eng Ijebor said ‘aluta’ change  should be  redefined  to reflect  the emerging  circumstances in the country and decry the unacceptable level of banditry,  kidnapping and robbery cases in the country
