Funke Akindele gifts veteran actor, Pa James a new house after losing home to flood

Popular Nigerian actress, Funke Akindele aka Jenifa has just gifted veteran actor, Kayode Olasehinde ‘Ajirebi’ aka Pa James, a new house after he lost his home to flood.

The kind gesture is coming after the house of veteran Nollywood actor, Ajirebi Kayode Olasehinde, located in Oke Isagun community of Oke Odo LGA in Lagos was destroyed by flooded after heavy rainfall.

The rain forced a canal to overflow thereby releasing its content into the property of the actor which has become a regular occurrence.

Announcing the kind gesture by Funke Akindele, actress Kemi Korede via Instagram wrote: “On behalf of PA JAMES, I Want to say Big thank you to @funkejenifaakindele for the new apartment given to him by you. God bless you so much for your good heart. your type is so rare..you are a gem. Almighty God will continue to make way for you where there seems to be no way.”

Although she has taken down the post after being instructed by Funke, who enjoys silently helping people, rather than receiving glory on social media for it, we were able to get a screenshot of it as seen below:

In another post, Kemi thanked those who came through for the actor, saying “To all that had supported pa James we say a big thank you…
Our colleagues that came all out to help we say thank you and God bless you all”

Pa Ajirebi’s son, Samuel Ajirebi, had cried out earlier today and released photos of the sorry state of his dad’s home, online.

    He wrote:

“Seriously sad right now, I get to think at times that, are we sure we have a government in this country?

“Look at what I met on going to visit my family today, a flooded house due to the overflowing canal behind our street.

To make matters worse, no one was at home save my dad, so the old man and I had to be saving properties and scooping water out of the house!

“This year makes it ten years of the repeated and consistent occurrence of this with severe damages done annually to properties, at times leading to temporary displacement!

“Letters have been written, appearances made, press releases written, still no significant step was taken by the government to channel the overrunning canal. “We need governmental intervention in Oke Isagun Community of Oke Odo LGA.

‘’We lose properties! We lose rest whenever we see rain signs! Tonight is going to be a partial prayer moment for families because it must not rain tonight…. No house for us to sleep in anymore!

    “This is sad and heartbreaking”.

Another Funke Akindele’s former worker reveals more shocking details about her mean treatment to her workers

Popular social media guru, Ibrahim Salawu also known as Unilag Olodo has revealed shocking details about Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele’s hostile behaviour to her workers. Contrary to the claim that Funke does not treat her workers well, Ibrahim who use to work for the veteran actress, in a lengthy post explained she kind of person and why she is perceived as hostile my some people.

According to Unilag Olodo, Funke Akindele is not an Angel neither is she perfect but one thing he is sure of is that the mother of two does not entertain laziness and any lazy person will not like her.

    Read all he said below;

“Funke Akindele is far from an angel, here’s my personal encounter with her and why I am sick of what the average Nigerian youth is becoming. This morning I was having a conversation with some friends when the topic of Funke Akindele came up and I was crushed by their comments about her from what they heard on social media. They had no idea I had a personal relationship with her and when I asked questions about how they got their minds set against someone they knew nothing about they went mute. This celebrity life sometimes is a gift and a curse.

I was amazed at how noise on social media is capable of swaying the minds of seemingly reasonable people after hearing just one person’s account of a story. Social media is an amazing tool with infinite opportunity to impact lives positively and open up minds to endless possibilities, but today it is being weaponised, used to destroy people’s reputation and livelihood – ‘all this for a drop of clout?’.

Until you fall victim of this extremely illogical mob justice carried out on social media today, you won’t understand how senseless and horrible it is. How do you expend so much energy casting judgement on social media, just to appear morally sound off one-sided accounts? Ironic, isn’t it?

One of the first things I learnt was the importance of listening and analysing both sides of the story before having an opinion and making judgement. I thought that was basic knowledge for every adult, apparently not.

Life is hard, funds are scarce and the government keeps dropping policies that don’t favour the masses, and this in my opinion has to be the only logical reason why people are so bitter and angry, ready to lend their voice to the destruction of whoever happens to be their victim for that day. This crab in a barrel mentality needs to be checked.

Yes, everybody loves the classic US versus THEM scenario. We feel weak so the moment we’re presented with a David & Goliath story, everybody is eager to whip out their slingshot. It’s just sad that we believe we are wise, yet we still operate on the ‘person wey cry pass na him dey innocent’ level. Anyway, before I spend the entire day lamenting about the sorry mindset of my peers, let me share my experience working for Funke Akindele.

In 2017, I worked as her PR lead at Scene One Productions. It was a 9-5 job which also had me visiting her home more often than I expected. I was shocked at how she was almost nothing like her social media personality the moment work was involved.

Funke Akindele is one of the most focused, driven, and hardworking person you’ll ever meet! From non-stop rehearsals, writing and reviewing scripts, auditioning new actors and spending so much time on shoots with her co-stars, I realised why she is one of the most successful actors and businessperson in the Nigerian entertainment scene.

During my time shuffling between her office and her house, I saw exactly how she treated her office and domestic staff. The part of her you got was greatly dependent on your attitude to work. She is hands-on and very intimidating; if you were unsure of the role you had to play on her team or just incompetent, you definitely would hate her. One simply does not build an empire by joking around when it’s time to work.

Conversely, the way she treated those who did their job well, especially the cooks, cleaners and her entire domestic staff would leave you thinking she was their mother. She joked around with them, allowed freedom to express themselves and created an enabling environment, at the same time, she wouldn’t hesitate to scold anyone who misbehaved.

I read tweets of people talking about how mean and insensitive she was and all I could see from my experience with her was the fact that those people were most likely just lazy. Nigerian youths hate to be called lazy, but we are always looking for shortcuts and free meals, just look at how youths and even celebrities are defending fraudsters and justifying fraud on social media today.”

  • Eniola Badmus talks about her love for best friend, Funke Akindele

Eniola Badmus talks about her love for best friend, Funke Akindele

It’s no longer news that popular actress, Eniola Badmus and Funke Akindele are very, very close. They have been very close for years. In this cha with Seye Kehinde, she revealed a lot about her best friend Funke Akindele.

How did you feel when the President announced the lockdown in March, and how did you react to it?

“I was not in the country when the lockdown was announced, myself and Funke Akindele, we were in Dubai. From Dubai, I went to London. It was in London I got to hear, I was like what is going on? Is the world coming to an end or what? Before we know it the border has been closed. All of these are things we have never heard before, things we have never seen before.

At some point, my stepbrother told me that, “sister you need to go back home” and that time I have spent like maybe a week or so. He was like “you need to go back home, they are closing the border and we don’t know when they will open it”. So I had to leave London on the 19th. I had to even come with the economy because there was no business class. There was no even time for that because Nigeria will close the border on the 20th.

At the time Funke Akindele had her problem, how did you feel considering your closeness?

That day I was out of this world. I wasn’t myself. I was like what is going on. I tried to get there I couldn’t because there was police on the road and they stopped us. I wasn’t myself, because I have seen myself in Funke and Funke in me, that whatever is happening to her it’s happening to me too. I was not myself at all.

The way even people go about it was like, somebody called me and said “Eniola you are trending” trending, why? What is going on? I had to go on twitter and saw all manners of shading, people were saying all sort of things.

That day was one of my red-letter days, I can’t even explain how I felt that day.

Looking back at your career and how far you have gone, how does it make you feel?

I feel great, I feel honoured. I feel super proud of myself. Well, I might not be at the top of my career right now but I believe I have tried. 20 years in the game and we are still here, still bagging award, still bagging endorsement and we are still one of the people the world reckons with. I feel so proud of myself.

Are there new things you are going to be doing in terms of your regular movie that you want to share with us?

There is a web series coming titled “Peperenpe” it’s an extremely funny character and I am sure people will love it. It’s going to come on Eniola Badmus TV. Like I said earlier too I have my regular movies coming up. Also on Eniola Badmus TV, I have a programme called “Touring With Eniola Badmus” I have not been doing too much of it lately, but when we come back to work fully, we would definitely start from that.

Touring with Eniola Badmus is a program that showcases me going to different places, getting people interviewed. Also, people watching me doing my things, how I do my day-to-day activities. And there is another one called “Time Out With Eniola Badmus” that one is a show on its own, whereby we have different celebrities from all works of life; we get them interviewed and people get to know what they are up to.

How do you juggle all these you are talking about?

Eniola Badmus is someone that when you message me 3 am, 4 am I will definitely reply you except when I am exhausted or I really don’t know what to say at that time. I really don’t sleep but when I went to sleep nothing can stop me.

Somebody said what is your relationship with Olamide?

Olamide is a brother from another mother. He is one person I talk to every day of my life. He is someone we try to put ideas together. Olamide is a brother, he is part of me. There are some of the things I do that the idea is from Olamide and I use to give him ideas too.

We relate so well. I don’t see him like someone I am older than, I see him like my men, people I relate freely with, and that is how it should be if you want to acquire wisdom. I am not kind of person that expects you to call me Aunty, just call me Senator Badosky or Baddoo, I am good with it (laugh).

Someone is asking if you are married or single?

I am single and ready to mingle (laugh).

How come Eniola is not married yet?

When the time comes I will. Of course, every girl wants to get married to a responsible guy. So definitely, I will get married and have my own children, don’t worry (laugh).

Being a plus-size, how do you inspire other plus size women out there?

I am sure I am one of the ladies who advocate for that. I carry my body so well. Anything that looks good on me I want to wear them. My size doesn’t have to hinder me from doing anything I want. I believe sizes don’t determine beauty, I mean beauty is different from sizes, so whatever I feel comfortable with I just want to wear it. And I never knew a lot of people are watching me, they will message me that I inspire them a lot. I do tell people if you feel so bad about your size then Iose weight, the most important thing is that you need to live your own life.

Be good, be comfortable with who you are if you know you can’t lose weight.

You and Funke have been close for a while, how did you develop that relationship to this point?

Funke Akindele is one person you should know who she really is before been her friend or been very close. Funke loves Loyalty. She is a playful person. When Funke is cool with you, she wants to be around you. Funke is someone that wants to see everybody eating at the same time. Funke is like a mother, she has that mother figure in her. She cares a lot about people around her. Somehow, we are cool. You know Funke is funny and I am also funny too. We don’t get thing personal to ourselves, even if Funke did something wrong to me I won’t see it as being wrong, we would play and laugh over it. I call her Lafunky.
