    JUST IN: Shekarau Faction Lose as Court of Appeal uphold Ganduje’s faction congresses

    An Abuja division of the Court of Appeal on Thursday set aside the judgment of the FCT High Court which invalidated the Kano state ward and local government congresses.

    The Appeal Court held that the lower Court lacks jurisdiction.

    It would be recalled that the Ibrahim Shekarau faction had headed to the FCT High Court after the congresses of the APC in Kano and the court upheld the group’s held congresses as against that of the governor Ganduje’s side.

    The appellate Court also held that the case was not a pre-election matter but an internal matter of the ruling party, therefore should be decided by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

    President Muhammad Buhari today formally sent a high powered delegation of four ministers to condole the government and people of Sokoto state over the death of Magajin Garin (Mayor of) Sokoto, late Alhaji Hassan Danbaba

    President Buhari was represented by the ministers of justice, aviation, water resources and police affairs: Abubakar Malami (SAN), Hadi Sirika, Suleiman Hussaini Adamu and Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi respectively.

    The Managing Director of Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority (SRRBDA) Alhaji Buhari Bature and Mal. Muhammad Mamman Daura, son of President Buhari’s nephew.

    Earlier in the day Gov. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state and the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero condoled the people and government of Sokoto state.

    Also at hand during the visit by the Governor and Emir were the former Chairman/CEO of FSB International Bank PLC, Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen and the publisher of THISDAY newspaper and the owner of ARISE Television, Mr Nduka Obaigbena, an associate of the departed Magajin Gari.

    Late Danbaba, a scion of the late Sardauna of Sokoto died on Saturday after a brief illness in Kaduna and was buried the same day in their family cemetry at Binanci area.

    During the condolence visit which took the visitors to the Government Lodge of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal; and, the palace of the Sultan, Malami, who led the Aso Rock team, said: “this delegation is that of the Federal Government which the President directed to come and condole you and the people of Sokoto over the demise of one of your councillors and an illustrious son of the state, the Mayor of Sokoto.”

    “President Buhari mourns the passage of the mayor and is with you in spirit as you pray for the repose of his soul,” Malami added as the other ministers in the entourage took turns to pray for the late Magajin Gari.

    In his remarks before the President’s representative came, Gov. Ganduje described the passage of the late Sokoto kingmaker as a “great loss,” not only to the people of Sokoto but also those of Kano.”

    “The death,” according to Ganduje, “shook the people and government of Kano state because of the close relationship the late Magajin Gari had with the people and government of the state.”

    Praying for the repose of the soul of the deceased, the Commander of Kano state Hisbah Corps, Sheikh Haruna Ibn Sina, extended condolence on behalf of the government of the state to the Sultan.

    Quoting a Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), Ibn Sina said: “What Allah has taken is His and what he has given is equally His. You should all exercise patience with whatever trial befalls you.”

    The visitors later extended condolences to the family of the late Mayor at his family house at Binanci area of Sokoto metropolis.

    Kano State Government vows to secure justice for Hanifa

    Kano state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has assured that government would continue to meticulously monitor and ensure the prosecution of anyone found culpable in the kidnap and murder of Hanifa Abubakar, an innocent five-year-old pupil at Kwanar Dakata in Nassarawa local government area of the state.

    This is contained in a statement issued by the the state commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba, adding that the governor said already measures taken in the matter include the indifinite closure and withdrawal of the operational license of the school where the child was allegedly said to have been gruesomely murdered.

    He said government is terribly disturbed that people entrusted with the care of children only turn out to be their murderers where the Governor added that government has been in touch with the family of the child and would remain so until justice prevail in the case to serve as deterrent to others.

    The governor, who commended security agencies in the state for the prompt action that led to the arrest of those allegedly involved, stated that while investigation is ongoing, government will meticulously follow the case to its logical conclusion.

    He also commended the international community, human rights-based organizations and well-meaning Nigerians for their concern in the matter where he assured security agencies of government’s support in carrying out their duties of ensuring that Kano maintains its relative peace.

    Ahead of the 2023 general elections, presidential campaign posters of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State have emerged.

    The campaign posters carried the inscriptions “Osinbajo-Ganduje Alliance (OGA), For Better Nigeria OGA Na Master.”

    The posters were spotted in strategic locations across Kano like Total by Airport Road Roundabout, Ahmadu Bello Way by Shekarau house, Murtala Muhammad Way, Kano Club Roundabout and Independence Way Roundabout.

    Recall that the Osinbajo Grassroots Organisation, OGO, had recently said the Vice President is the future of Nigeria.

    OGO’s National Convener, Foluso Ojo, said Osinbajo possesses impeccable leadership qualities to continue the works of President Muhammadu Buhari.

    The founder, Tamallan Foundation, Dr. Saleh Musa Wailare said that governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state is changing the face of the state with developmental projects and in accordance with the peoples demands without bias.

    He made the disclosure in a chat with our correspondent shortly after Sallah homage to the governor, adding that governor Ganduje is a good leader who always think before he acts, where he opined that Kano state is rapidly advancing in the area of infrastructure, economy and politics.

    Commenting on his visit to government House, Dr. Wailare stressed that” it is my policy to pay homage to my leaders and greet them and solicits their blessings because a leader is somebody who is important at all level, therefore i felt honoured when i met my governor, leader and somebody whom I respect every time “. He concluded.

    Similarly, Dr. Saleh Musa Wailare thanked the governor for receiving all those who paid him a Sallah courtesy and reassured that Kano would continue to witness real change because the state is under the dynamic leadership of a great politician whose aims remained for the progress of the state in a democratic dispensation.

    Kano Gov, Ganduje, Receives Second Jab of Covid-19 Vaccine

    Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and some top government officials on Thursday received the second jab of Astrazeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

    Speaking after he was vaccinated, Ganduje appreciated the state’s health workers, as well as religious and traditional leaders for the success of the vaccination programme.

    He reassured the people that the state government would curb the spread of the COVID-19.

    “I just took my second dose of the vaccine. I am appealing to the people of this state to make themselves available for the vaccine.

    “If you didn’t take the first dose, you are excluded from the second dose.

    “I assure you that this is the beginning of the end of COVID-19 in Kano State,” he said.

    The governor urged the people to continue to abide by the Covid-19 protocol.

    Earlier, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Ibrahim Tsanyawa, said that so far 3,968 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the state, 3,896 of which were successfully managed and 110 deaths recorded.


    According to him, out of 209,568 vaccines received by the state government on 10th March, all intended beneficiaries had been covered.

    Tsanyawa said that a large number of residents were responding positively to the vaccine exercise.

    Transporting Cattles From North To South Should Be Stopped – Ganduje

    Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State is seeking to have a  law enacted which would place a ban on the movement of herdsmen and cattle from the north towards the southern regions of Nigeria.

    This he believes will help curb the recurring clashes between farmers and herdsmen.

    Speaking to journalists after a special lunch with President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State, Governor Ganduje argued that the law will also address the issue of cattle rustling in the northern part of the country.

    “My advocacy is that we should abolish the transportation or trekking of herdsmen from the Northern part of Nigeria to the Middle Belt and to the Southern part of Nigeria.

    “There should be a law that will ban, otherwise we cannot control the conflicts between herdsmen and farmers and cannot control the cattle rustling which is affecting us greatly,” the governor said.

    On the appointment of the Service Chiefs, Governor Ganduje said he wants the military hierarchy to work with state governors to ensure safety across the country.

    He said the call became necessary because the governors know the security needs of the people and the various black spots in their states and as such, they are very valuable in the bid to secure the nation.

    Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has reverted to the former minimum wage of N18,000 for its workers.

    In an interview yesterday, spokesperson to the governor, Salihu Tanko-Yakasai, said the state government has also stopped the payment of N30,000 minimum wage to its workers.

    Tanko-Yakasai said the reason for the action is due to the recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

    He added that the state is unable to continue paying N30,000 because what the state is getting now as a government has reduced.

    “The state government has reverted to the initial minimum pay due to the recession. What we are getting now as a government has reduced, and we can’t afford to pay the N30,000 minimum wage,” he told reporters.

    President Muhammadu Buhari, Governors Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State and Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state are expected to address the 344 rescued students of Government Science Secondary School, Katsina later Friday.

    Recall that Governor Aminu Bello Masari had earlier on Friday at about 9.26 am received the rescued boys at Government House Katsina, from the commander 17 Brigade, Brigadier-General W.B Idris.

    Masari had during the reception of the boys assured that the incident which saw the abduction of the boys by kidnappers will never repeat again adding that the state government will beef up security in schools as well as work closely with security agencies to address insecurity in the state

    He said, “today is historic, not only for Katsina state and Nigeria, but also for the Children that were rudely abducted from their school. We commend the effort made by the security agencies and other relevant authorities in ensuring the release of the boys

    “We thank god for his mercies and continue to pray for His guidance and protection’’

    ‘’For those who actually participated in ensuring their release we thank you, security is the responsibility of every one.’’

    While acknowledging that the incident that happened in Kankara affected the whole the state cutting across the 34 local government areas of the state, he assured that his administration will strive to restore peace in the state

    He charged the pupils to see their experience as journey to adulthood that will be permanently kept in their memory for a long time, assuring that the state government will continue to discharge its responsibility of protecting lives and properties

    Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander 17 Brigadier, Brigadier-General WB Idris, noted that the rescue of the boys was as result of collective efforts by security agencies in the state

    He said “the continued efforts by security agencies to rescue the boys have yielded positive results today; we are handing over 344 students of GSSS Kankara to you so that you can hand them over to their parents.’’

    The pupils are expected to be taken to the hospital for checks, profiled by the education authorities before they are handed over to their parents

    Ganduje Called Upon To Revive Kano Forum

    Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje have been called upon to revive Kano Forum popularly known as “Inuwar Jama’ar Kano” in order to restore it’s activities which are for the development of the state especially in the education sector.
    The call was made by Malam Hassan Adamu in a chat with our correspondent, adding that Kano Forum was estableshed long time ago by some prominent and patriotic Kano citizens who always wishes the state well, but neglected by previous administrations may be due to political reasons.

    Malam Hassan added that ” This organisation has made so many tremendous efforts towards the progress of Kano  state in many categories where quite a number of projects were executed in the state which has been recognised by Kano citizens of all sector”. He emphasized.

    Similarly a retired headmaster from Dawakin Tofa local government area, Malam Adamu Mai gemu appealed to governor Abdullahi Ganduje to revive Kano Forum and put it into active use because the forum consists of active and prominent Kano citizens that can also shares more important ideas with government in order to makes the state more examplary.

    Daybreak News visited that Forum’s Secretariat and found out that the long time awaited building complex has been abandoned which should be look upon for urgent completion so as to eneble the organisation commences it’s services across the state.
