    Industrialist distributes palliatives to 10,000 households in Kwara

    A frontline industrialist from Kwara State, Dr. Kamoru Yusuf on Sunday distributes Palliatives measures to over 10,000 households in Kwara state. The distribution of 5kg of rice commenced at Oke-Onigbin and later moved to other communities under Isin local government area of the state.

    Dr. Yusuf, who is a Group Managing Director/CEO Kam Holding, a leading manufacturer of Iron and Steel product in Nigeria said the gesture was to relieve people of the communities the hardship that comes with COVID-19 pandemic that is fast savaging the whole world at this period of Ramadan fasting by Muslims.

    Presenting the palliatives to the beneficiaries, Mr. Akinloye Ibrahim, who represented Dr Yusuf, said “the gesture will serve as palliatives to cushion the effects of lockdown imposed in the state due to the outbreak of COVID-19 as well as the commencement of Ramadan fasting by Muslim faithful”

    Ibrahim explained further that the gesture was also aimed at supporting widows, orphan, vulnerable and less privileged with no religions discrimination.

    One of the traditional rulers who received the donation on behalf of his community, Oba Kamaldeen Omotayo, the Onigbin of Oke-Onigbin applauded Dr. Yusuf for his usual kind gesture to his people.

    Said ”The joy this donation has brought to my people cannot be underestimated because people have been at home for almost a month now in directive to the order of the state government to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state”

    The monarch, however prayed for Dr. Kamoru Yusuf and upward of Kam Holding company.

    COVID-19: Pharmacist offers free 24hrs temperature checks in Kwara

    A US based Pharmacist, Dr. Abdulraheem Malik has directed all the branches of his pharmacies across Kwara to conduct free 24hours temperature checks for people in the state.

    Speaking with newsmen on Wednesday in Ilorin, Malik who is also the Managing Director of Rotamedics Pharmacy explained that it was  to compliment the state government’s efforts at curbing the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

    He expressed concern on the impact of the viral  infection across the world, while cautioning the public to place high priority on ensuring the disease does not spread throughout the state.

    Malik commended the state government for taking proactive measure by ordering a lockdown and setting up the Technical Committee on COVID-19 in the best interest of the people.

    He said: “The no movement policy will help curtail the spread of the virus by all undetected carriers.

    “So I want to appeal to everyone in Kwara to support the State Governor, and his team by adhering to the directive without compromise.

    “Kudos to the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi and members of the Committee for paying a surprise visit to some check points where security agents were caught compromising their mandate and letting passengers and vehicles into the state”.

    The Pharmacist also advised that state government should  mandate all citizens to wear mask, adding that this will go a long way to curb the spread of the disease.

    “Experts have also said the virus is also spread by micro droplets that linger in the air for a long time, especially in enclosed settings.

    “They have recommended keeping doors and windows open for ventilation whenever people gather in a room.

    “In my little capacity to support the state government to manage this crisis, I am providing free temperature checks in all the branches of Rotamedics Pharmacy.

    “This will help in the preliminary steps towards detection, diagnosis, quarantine and subsequent reduction in the spread of the coronavirus.” he added.

    Kwara police launch manhunt for ATM thieves

    The Kwara Police Command has launched a manhunt for suspected thieves said to be behind acts of vandalism on Automated Teller Machines (ATM) in Ilorin.

    The Police Public Relation Officer(PPRO) in the command, Dsp Ajayi Okasanmi, made this known in a statement in Ilorin on Friday.

    The statement quoted the state Commissioner of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, as vowing to stop the perpetrators of the act.

    He appealed to public spirited individuals to volunteer information that could lead to the arrest of the hoodlums.

    The commissioner, according to the statement, said a report was received on Thursday that two machines were vandalised by hoodlums and an undisclosed amount of money carted away after setting the machines ablaze.

    “Members of the public are advised to go about their lawful endeavours without any fear, while the business community is to be rest assured that the safety of their lives and properties are not under any threat whatsoever.
