    As Nigerians count days to the 2022 Edition of Eko NAFEST, the Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, NCAC, Otunba Segun Runsewe has stated that the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu would in November officially unveil Nigeria’s cultural wonders to the world.

    According to Runsewe, Lagos State the citadel of culture will host the 2022 edition of National Festival of Arts and Culture which is Nigeria’s biggest cultural tourism export, adding that culture is a lubricant to the nation’s socioeconomic value.

    2022 NAFEST is a bouquet of festivals, dances, indigenous culineries from states like kaduna,Rivers, Edo, Plateau and Ekiti States.

    The NCAC lead noted that each of the nation’s cultural event is geared towards creating global awareness and it is intrinsic to unity, love and
    connectivity of the nation.

    Speaking on the Gastronomy culture of the nation, Runsewe noted that the massive display of our food culture, from soups to snacks, beverages and peacocks of ” swallows” is unique to each geopolitical zones.

    In the last six years in office, the Chief Cultural officer has focused and changed the culture narrative of Nigeria through innovative inputs.
    ” I want to showcase beyond our dances and food culture, the 37 wonders of Nigeria and there no better place to do so than at Eko NAFEST ” Runsewe said.

    Lagos to Host Biggest Eko NAFEST 2022, Sanwo-Olu promises

    Lagos State Governor Sanwo- Olu has promised that the State Government has concluded plans to host the most colourful National Festival of Arts and Culture, NAFEST 2022.

    Sanwo- Olu gave this assurance when the Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, NCAC, Otunba Segun Runsewe led a delegation on a visit to the governor’s office to formally present a Blueprint of the festival and to know the level of preparedness of the state in hosting the festival.

    Governor Sanwo- Olu disclosed that that a delegation from the state had visited the NCAC for a Pre-NAFEST maiden meeting to interact and obtain details of hosting the festival which will bring together contingents from the 36 States of the federation and the FCT to Lagos State.

    He said from the report, the State government had to improve on their facilities to meet all criteria set by the NCAC that will enable the state not only to host the biggest and most colourful festival but also emerge the overall winner of the fiesta.

    He revealed that as a prelude to the festival, Lagos State will hold a Pre-NAFEST event for seven days which is aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage of all the local government areas in the state which will therefore herald the Eko NAFEST 2022.

    NCAC Director General, Otunba Segun Runsewe congratulated the Lagos State Government for winning the hosting right for NAFEST 2022 which was keenly contested by three other states, adding that the festival which is the foremost cultural event in Nigeria has become a platform to unite the nation through Arts and Culture.

    Runsewe said, “the essence of the visit is to interact and brief you on details of hosting the festival which will converge contingents from the 36 States of the federation and the FCT to Lagos state for seven days.”

    He further reiterated his commitment to fine-tune the festival into richer, bigger and better platform for Lagos State, the centre of excellence by making the EKO NAFEST 2022 the best of its kind in the history of Nigeria.

    He explained that the festival would have far reaching benefits to Lagosian with a positive impact on the economy of the state in the areas of hotel accommodation, transportation, small scale businesses and vendors.

    Runsewe also expressed the need for the State Local Organizing Committee (LOC) to to work in close partnership with the National Organizing Committee (NOC) for effective coordination.

    According to the Director General, the wife of the Governor , Mrs Ibijoke Sonwo- Olu will be crowned the mother of NAFEST ” (Mama Nafest 22) during the National Technical Stakeholders meeting coming up later this month. This will also afford her the platform to host the children during the Eko Nafest 2022.

    There was exchange of cultural gifts between the Lagos State Governor and the Director General of the NCAC.

    The Kogi State Commissioner for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Hon. Salifu Isah Idachaba on Friday in Ekiti indicated interest of Kogi to host the next 2022 National Arts Festival (NAFEST) in the state

    The commissioner disclosed this during a chat with the management of Kogi State Council for Arts and Culture, during his supervisory visit to the State’s pavilion at the on going Ekiti NAFEST 2021.

    In a press statement signed by the information Officer of KGSCAC, Comrade Gabriel Edicha stressed that the move was predicated on Governor Bello’s love for arts and culture, and also due to the impressive records of commitment of the State’s contingent at every festival in recent years.

    To express the State Government’s readiness towards hosting the next edition in 2022, the Commissioner held a close-door meeting with the Director General, National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Segun Runsewe, in company of Kogi State Ambassador of Culture, Hon Kemi Olawumi and SSA on Culture, Hon Oluwafemi Bolaji respectively.

    In their separate remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Hon Ibrahim Benjamin, the Director, Culture, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Chris Yakubu, Kogi State Ambassador of Culture and SSA on Cultural integration, Hon Kemi Olawumi ICON and the Senior Special Adviser on Culture, Hon Oluwafemi Bolaji said Kogi has all it takes to host the next festival.

    They expressed satisfaction with the impressive records of the Council at all times, urging them to go for more laurels in Ekiti.

    Other States that have indicated interest to host the festival are Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Imo states respectively.

    Bello Tasks Contingents To Showcase The Rich Arts, Culture, Tourism Potential Of Kogi In NAFEST

    The Kogi State governor,  Alhaji Yahaya Bello over the weekend in Lokoja charged the State contingents to showcase the rich arts, culture and mineral resources that abound in the state at this year’s NAFEST.

    Approving the participation of Kogi State Council for Arts and Culture (KSCAC) in the 34th edition of National Festival for Arts and Culture (NAFEST) holding in Ekiti State, governor Bello enjoined the participants to be exemplary in all fields.

    The Commissioner for Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Comrade Salifu Idachaba disclosed in Lokoja in a statement signed by the information Officer in-charge of the ministry, Comrade Gabriel Edicha.

    Idachaba who delivered the governor’s message charged the  State contingent to be of good character and showcase the rich arts, culture and mineral resources that abound in the state.

    He also enjoined the state contingents to win laurels, in order to justify the support of the government and people of the state.

    The commissioner, expressed confidence that the state representatives would do the state proud, in view of the immense preparation by the artistes towards the event.

    The festival which is an annual event that brings all the states’ Council for Arts and Culture in the federation together to showcase the diverse rich cultures of the participating states is to commence from 13th – 19th November 2021.

    Meanwhile, the Director of Council for Arts and Culture, Kogi state, Mrs. Wosilat Owuda also assured that the state’s contingents are in one spirit for the festival and confidence in bringing glory to the state.

    The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello On Saturday approved the participation of Kogi State Council for Arts and Culture (KSCAC) in the 33rd edition of National Festival for Arts and Culture (NAFEST) in Jos, Plateau State.

    In a Press release signed by the press officer of the ministry, Comrade Gabriel Edicha said the  Commissioner of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Comrade Salifu Idachaba  conveyed the approval message to the Director in the ministry, Mrs. Wosilat Owuda over the weekend.

    According to him, the state governor has charged the Kogi State contingents to be of good character and showcase the rich arts, culture and mineral resources that abound in the state during the event.

    He also enjoined the state contingents to win laurels, in order to justify the support of the people of the state.

    According to the statement, the commissioner, expressed confidence that the state representatives would make the state proud, in view of the immense preparation by the artistes towards the event.

    The festival which scheduled to hold from 21st to 28th November 2020 is an annual event that brings all the states Council for Arts and Culture in the federation together to showcase the diverse rich cultures of the participating states..

    In their separate remarks, during a visual meeting of the major stakeholders of the festival, Director General, National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Segun Runsewe and the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lanlong assured the participants of a hitch-free event.
