    Nigerian Troops Eliminate 151 Terrorists in Recent Operations

    In recent military operations, Nigerian troops have successfully eliminated 151 terrorists, with 456 others apprehended across the country, according to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba. He provided updates on these operations during a press briefing in Abuja.

    The Nigerian Armed Forces have been on the offensive against criminal elements in the past two weeks, resulting in significant successes. Among the notable achievements, troops from Operation Hadin Kai killed 44 terrorists, arrested 21, and rescued four kidnapped hostages during this period. The military recovered a cache of weapons, including 17 AK47 rifles, three locally fabricated rifles, three locally-made guns, one Beretta pistol, three Dane guns, and 116 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Additionally, they seized five rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and other related items.

    The operations also extended to North Central Nigeria, where troops from Operation Safe Haven killed 16 terrorists, arrested 16 others, and rescued one kidnapped hostage. The recovered weaponry included 12 AK47 rifles, two pistols, five locally fabricated rifles, six Dane guns, 32 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and more.

    In North West Nigeria, troops from Operations Hadarin Daji and Whirl Punch achieved significant results, killing 35 terrorists, arresting eight others, and rescuing 17 kidnapped hostages. The air components of various operations continued to engage terrorists from their hideouts through a series of airstrikes.

    These recent encounters highlight the Nigerian military’s commitment to combatting insurgency and criminal elements, as well as its efforts to ensure the safety and security of the nation’s citizens.

    Troops Rescue Two More Chibok Girls In Borno

    The Nigerian Army said it had rescued two additional girls from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, nine years after their abduction by Boko Haram in 2014.

    The Theatre Commander, North-East Joint Operation Hadin Kai, Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, disclosed this on Thursday, May 4, 2023, while briefing newsmen at the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri.

    Ali said that Hauwa Maltha and Esther Marcus, both serial numbers two and 103 in the list of the missing victims, were rescued on April 21, 2023, by troops of 114 Taskforce Battalion Bitta at Lagara, under the 21 armoured Brigade Bama during operations.

    He said that Maltha and Kibaku by tribe from Jila in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno, and her three-year-old baby were rescued.

    Ali added that while in captivity, Hauwa got married at Gulukos, a village in Sambisa Forest, to one Salman, a cameraman to Abubakar Shekau.

    “Salman later died in Lake Chad. Thereafter, Hauwa Maltha got married to one Mallam Muhammad in Gobara and had 2 children for him who later died due to sickness,” he said.

    “Muhammad, her second husband, was also killed in Ukuba terrorist enclaves in Sambisa Forest during clashes between Boko Haram and ISWAP.

    ‘Hauwa, who was about 8 months and 2 weeks pregnant during the time of her rescue delivered a bouncing baby boy on April 28, 2023, while undergoing thorough medical examination along with her baby Fatima at 7 Division Medical Hospital and Services.” he added.

    Nigerian troops sustain massive assault on terrorists in NorthEast – DHQ

    The Nigerian military has sustained massive assault against Boko Haram/Islamic States West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in continuation of its operations across the Northeast, Defence Headquarters has said.

    The Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, in a statement on Friday, said that more terrorists have been killed while many others surrendered.

    Enenche disclosed that the troops of Army Super Camp 6, Konduga in Borno with the Civilian Joint Task Force, killed six terrorists in an ambush operation at Lawanti River line on June 3.

    He added that others escaped with gunshot wounds.

    Enenche also said that more terrorists had continued to surrender to troops of Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD) as a result of sustained artillery bombardments and ground assaults on their hideouts.

    According to him, three of the terrorists, namely: Mohammed Babagana, Modu Jugudun and Alhaji Usman surrendered to troops of Delta Company at Pulka in Gwoza Local Government Area on June 2.

    He disclosed that the trio confessed to have escaped from their camp in Dabulari Village, Bama Local Government Area after a heavy artillery bombardment that led to the death of many of their erstwhile colleagues.

    The coordinator further disclosed that the combined troops of 19 Brigade and 401 Special Forces Brigade conducted a robust clearance operation at Doron Naira and Magaji on June 2.

    He explained that the troops recovered one 120mm Mortar base plate, one religious book, metal links for-Aircraft ammunition and a roll of copper wire abandoned by the terrorists in Doran Naira.

    Enenche said the troops, through superior fire, killed nine terrorists at Daban Magaji encounter.

    He added that the troops destroyed one Boko Haram Gun Truck as well as captured one Anti-Aircraft Gun, 2 AK 47 Rifles, and a large cache of Anti-Aircraft ammunition.

    “However, one officer paid the supreme price while one soldier was wounded in action.

    “The soldier wounded in action is currently receiving treatment in our military medical facility.

    “Similarly, on June 1, troops of 144 Battalion deployed in Madagali, Adamawa State briskly cleared BHT Staging Area and Crossing Points at Lemu, Gajinji and Tsakiraku.

    “During the encounter at Gajinji, troops neutralised one terrorist and arrested 2 adult females namely: Aishatu Manye and Kelune Mate identified to be the local BHT commander’s wives,” he said.

    In the North West, Enenche disclosed that troops of Operation Whirl Punch had on June 3, raided a bandits’ Camp at Kurmin Dande in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State acting on credible information.

    He explained that troops made contact and neutralised two of the bandits while others escaped with gunshot wounds during the operation.

    According to him, troops recovered two Dane guns, two motorcycles, one locally fabricated short gun, four cutlasses, three cell phones, two small solar panels and some clothing items before destroying their camp.

    “The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, congratulates the gallant troops for their resilience, courage and dedication to the noble cause of defending our fatherland.

    “The high command of the armed forces of Nigeria also encourages the troops to continue to be steadfast and focused as they sustain the onslaught against the enemies of our nation,” he said.
