    Sallah: Price Of Animals Affordable In Kano Rural Markets

    Price of livestocks was affordable to buyers at Kano local markets, where the dealers decries lack of money at hand due to the present global economic situation.

    zour correspondent who visited some local markets reported that there is adequate animals from small ruminants to bigger ones, but lack of adequate money remained a great issue to buyers.

    At Badume market in Bichi local government area, price of rams, goats sheep and other small ruminants was very affordable, where an average ram costs from 30,000-120, he goat from 10,000-30,000, goats and sheep’s from 20,000-40,000 according to the size and health status of each animal.

    At Dambatta cattle market, our correspondent gathered that a hearthy calf costs from 50,000 to 200,000 while an average cattle was sold at 10,000 to 300,000 where a large bulls sold from 300,000 to 600,000 depending on it’s fattening.

    Similarly, birds like hens,cocks turkeys and Fowls were sold from 1000 to 4000, while ducks turkeys sold from 5000 to 7000 depending on their size, while at Kofar Na’isa where they sells camels, the price differed from other livestock because of their size and meat quantity.

    Most of the dealers expressed that although there is no money at hand, people have tried their best in buying some animals for Eid-elderly Kabir festivities which is an annual events, that needs special organisation.

    The Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on Friday in Lokoja charges people of the state to be law abiding and ensure that they play by the rules of the game.

    Governor Bello who gave the charge after performing this Year’s Eid -El- Fitri prayer at Muhammad Buhari Event centre, Lokoja stressed that unity and peace of Nigeria should be uppermost in every Nigerians as no development can take place without unity.

    “It is only when you are united that objectives can be achieved and I therefore implore everyone of us to pray for our leaders, locals, traditional, state and the nation.”

    Governor Bello’ who called for prayers for president Muhammadu Buhari and the incoming President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his vice, Senator Kashim Shettima said prayer changes things.

    “We should pray that the next transition in Kogi State be smooth as I promise to continue to play by the rules of the game and ensure that there is smooth transition.”

    “And by the special grace of God, this would be my last Eid prayer – Eid-el-Fitri in this particular arena as the governor. When next you see me here, I will be a former governor”.

    “And for all that we have achieved for our people I pray that by the special grace of God, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo that will succeed me by the grace of Allah, will do more.”

    “I urge everyone of us to support him, pray for him, vote for him and ensure that we become victorious in the November Governorship election “.

    Sallah: Sultan declares July 9 Eid al-Adha

    The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, on Wednesday, declared July 9 as Eid al-Adha.

    Also known as Sallah, Eid al-Adha will feature the slaughtering of ram during the period known as the “festival of sacrifice”.

    This is the second significant celebration in Islam.

    The first is Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan.

    In a statement issued by the National Moonsighting Committee, the Sultan urged Muslims to intensify prayers during the period.

    It also declared Thursday, June 30, as the first day of Dhul Hijjah.

    “Eidul Adha will be on Saturday, 10th Zul-Hijjah 1443H (9th July 2022) In Sha Allah,” the statement read in part.

    Sallah: Sultan Directs Muslims To Look Out For New Moon

    Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has directed the Muslim Ummah to look out for the new moon of Dhul-Hijjah as from Wednesday.

    The Sultan made the call in a statement signed by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, Chairman, advisory committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto.

    “This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that Wednesday, June 29, which is equivalent to 29th of Dhul-Qidah 1443AH, shall be the day to look out for the new moon of Dhul-Hijjah 1443AH.”

    “Muslims are therefore requested to start looking for the new moon on Wednesday and report its sighting to the nearest district or village head for onward communication to the Sultan,” the statement read.

    He also prayed to Allah to assist the Muslim Ummah in discharging their religious duties.

    Dhul-Hijjah is the 12th and the last month in the Islamic calendar where the Holy Pilgrimage (Hajj) takes place as well as the Eid Kabir – festival of sacrifice.

    Eid-el-fitr: Sultan Declares Monday As Sallah

    The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Monday as the first day of Shawwal 1443AH in Nigeria.

    The Sultan made the declaration in a statement on Saturday signed by Prof. Sambo Junaidu, the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs Sultanate Council, Sokoto.

    He said the Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs in Conjunction with the National Moon Sighting Committee did not receive any report from various Moon Sighting committees across the country.

    He said therefore, Sunday is the 30th day of the month of Ramadan 1443AH.

    The Sultan said he has accepted the report and accordingly declared Monday as the first day of Shawwal 1443AH, Day of Eid-el-Fitr.

    He felicitated with Nigerian Muslims and wished them God’s guidance and blessings.

    He urged Muslims to continue to pray for peace progress and development of the country and wished all Nigerians happy Eid-el-Fitr.

    In a Sallah message to mark this year’s Eid- Al Adha the the National Orientation Agency, NOA, has urged Muslim Ummah and Nigerians to examplify the lessons of Obedience and Sacrifice by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) by praying for peace security and wellbeing of the country.
    This was contained in a Sallah message by the Director General of NOA, Dr. Garba Abari.


    Abari further enjoined the Muslim Ummah to imbibe the values and lessons that the celebration signifies for the progress, unity and development of the country and also to uphold the lessons of selflessness, discipline obedience and sacrifice which is the essence of the celebration.
    He also called on the Ummah and indeed all Nigerians to stay and keep safe in view of the confirmed upsurge in COVID 19 infections noting that the Delta Variant of the virus is already in the country.

    He charged all Nigerians to remain law abiding and embrace the spirit of kindness, tolerance, self-discipline, obedience and sacrifice as the theme of this festival for peaceful coexistence among all citizens irrespective of religious, ethnic and political affiliations.

    While wishing the Muslim Ummah a happy and peaceful celebration, the NOA Director General urged them to avoid large gatherings and comply with strict adherence to all prescribed non pharmaceutical preventive measures of facial coverings, constant hand washing and physical distancing during the Sallah celebration.

    SALLAH celebration: FCTA Permanent Secretary assures residents of security

    Permanent Secretary of  the FCTA, Mr. Olusade  Adesola has assured residents of the territory  of security and safety during the upcoming Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.

     In a press release made available to Daybreak from FCTA, the assurance was given following the monthly FCT Security Committee meeting.

    Adesola  who chaired the meeting disclosed that there will be intensified patrol operations as well as an increase in intelligence operations which will be carried out individually and jointly by the various security organisations in the FCT.

    He gave the assurance that all  security agencies to continue to work in unison for the adequate security of the Territory and urged residents to cooperate with security agents and each other to safeguard lives and property.

    Meanwhile he also disclosed  that the security agencies had made breakthroughs in the fight against organized crime with the recent arrest of the leaders of a major “one-chance” syndicate responsible for many criminal activities in the FCT.

    Adesola said that removal of shanties, squatter settlements and illegal residents along the  Airport road  which will be extended across the FCT is intended to ensure that hoodlums that have hitherto dominated those environment will no longer have bases from which to operate.

     If you don’t have any legitimate business, you cannot use Abuja as your safe haven, he said.

    Furthermore  the Permanent Secretary urged residents to continue to follow the prescribed non-pharmaceutical intervention which include facial coverings, constant hand washing and physical distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

    The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs(NSCIA) yesterday said the Eid-il Fitr festival will hold on Thursday.

    It asked Muslims in the country to observe Ramadan fast today.

    The NSCIA, which made the clarifications in a statement in Abuja, said the crescent has not been sighted to end Ramadan.

    The statement was signed by the Deputy Secretary-General, of NSCIA, Prof. Salisu Shehu.

    The NSCIA said: “The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) – under the leadership of its President-General and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, wishes to inform the Nigerian Muslim Ummah that there was no proven report of the sighting of the crescent of Shawwal, 1442 AH on the 29th of Ramadan, 1442 AH. Ramadan fast will, therefore, continue tomorrow Wednesday, 12th May as the 30th day of Ramadan.


    “Consequently, Thursday 13th May, is hereby declared as 1st of Shawwal, 1442 AH and the day of Eid-il-fitr.

    “The Council prays that Almighty Allah accept our fasting and other virtuous acts in Ramadan and grant us all peaceful and blissful Eid celebrations.”

    The General Overseer Christ Evangelical and Life intervention Fellowship Ministry Pastor Yohanna Buru and some of the church members have donated a new- cloth for orphans and widows aimed at supporting them to celebrate Sallah with joy and happiness like any other Muslims across the world.

    According to him, the church deemed it fit to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) and other refugees kids and widows that were chased away from their communities due to series of attack by kidnappers, banditry and others that were affected as a result of farmers-herders clashes.
    He said, the church bought new wrappers and donated them to 50 female orphans, and also bought new clothes which was also shared to 50 boys that were orphans including children of the destitute.

    While Sharing the new Sallah clothes at Barnawa, Kawo and Rigasa communities in Kaduna, Buru said the church has been doing this for many years, and the aims is to support the poor muslim to celebrate sallah with joy and happiness and to also to strengthen Christians and muslims relations.

    He added that the church has shared over 50 bags of rice, millet and maize to the poor Muslims in kaduna and some to other neighbouring states to promote peace, love, togetherness and strengthen better understanding among different faith base organization. Buru said, during Christmas and new year, some muslims have been helping the church orphans and widows with many things including donation of bags of rice and other foodstuffs to the church widows.

    “The church cannot forget the annual contribution of a muslim woman (Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani)”, he said.
    According to him, Ramatu has been doing beautiful things to all the widows and orphans in the church

    “We must remembered that we are created by one God, and we all are worshipping one God”

    “We all have holy Books that were seeing to all by one God. We must be our brothers keepers. We must join hands on promoting peace, love and unity to all mankind”

    Buru appealed to Muslims all over the world to use the lesson learnt during the 3O days of Ramadan, toward promoting peace and unity

    Responding Mallam Garbo Abdullahi Barnawa, one of the Muslims leaders in the area expressed delight over the donation by the church ,while stressing that ,its really impressive seen how church do usually help the poor Muslims with many things in order to promote peace and unity.

    He testify that for over 5 years, the church has been assisting the poor muslims with food,and cloths and this has help in promoting religious tolerance and better understanding among different faith base organization

    One of the orphan that received the new cloth that was sew for her, Maryam Mohammed, said, she was very happy with the support from the church adding that no one remembered them only Pastor Buru.

    She pray to almighty God to bless the church while callibng on Jama’atul Nasrul Islam, NASFat, Muslims in Da’awah, Counsil of Islamic matters and council of imam and ulamas to always remember the the poor muslims orphans during festivity.

    Maryam ended up by calling on kaduna state Government to support the orphans and widows that were abandoned across the states, while calling on federal government to kindly create a center that would help the poor orphans and widows to reduce the daily challenges they faces in terms of accessing food, education, health and others.

    Sallah: Senator Wamakko admonishes Nigerians to live in peace, be brothers’ keepers

    The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence and Deputy Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti Corruption, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, has admonished Nigerians to strive to live in peace with each other, irrespective of any religious , political, cultural and ethnic affinities.

    Wamakko who is alsobChairman of the Northern Senators Forum also appealed to the citizenry to sustain their centuries-old bonds of friendship, harmony and mutual coexistence.

    Senator Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District, made these admonishments in his message to the Nigerian Muslim Ummah, to mark the Edi-el-Adha, 1441 AH.

    According to him: ” We should also continue to be our brothers’ keepers, so as to collectively bolster peace, unity and the even socioeconomic development of the country .

    ” The Almighty Allah has created us in different ways, with varying potentials and faiths, cultures and ethnicities .

    ” But , our rich diversities should serve as our formidable unifying factors and not dividing ones. The Almighty Allah has not made a mistake by creating us together in Nigeria .”

    On the raging global Corona Virus Pandemic ( COVID-19),Wamakko urged Nigerians to continue to pray fervently for urgent divine solutions, as well as strictly observe all the laid down protocols

    Senator Wamakko urged,” Nigerians should continue to use face masks, wash their hands with soup regularly , use hand sanitizers , drink water regularly, as well as maintain social distancing, among others .”

    On security, Senator Wamakko assured that, the National Assembly would continue to effectively partner with the other arms of government and the security agencies , to further secure the lives and properties of all citizens and residents of Nigeria.
