    SOKOTO: Special Assistant To The Governor Dumps PDP To APC

    The Special Adviser to governor Tambuwal, Alhaji Garba Marafa Tozai and the PDP Vice Chairman in Isa Local Government, Alhaji Garba Araga of Sokoto state have defected the ruling  PDP to APC following unfulfilment of promises. 

    The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State in a statement by Bashar Abubakar is facing a serious headache as many of its members from the  nooks and  crannies of the state are dumping the party for All Progressives congress (APC).
    Alhaji Garba Araga explained that they decided to throw up their membership of PDP as the party renounced facts and all vital advice which led to the total failure of  fulfilling on the promises made to its people during the  campaigns period.

    The latest defectors are the Vice Chairman of the PDP in Isa local Government Area, Alhaji Garba Araga and Alhaji Garba Marafa Tozai, the Special Assistant to Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal,along side hundreds of their teeming supporters in the area.

    They further said that with retired Col. Garba Moyi Isa, a former Commissioner, who recently decamped to APC, the party is optimistic of winning the elections in the area.

    They described the PDP led-government in the state as an absolute failure that was not ready to cater for the needs of the people of the state.

    They explained that with Alhaji Ibrahim Lamido Isa as APC Senatorial candidate of Sokoto Eastern Zone, they don’t have any doubt that their tears will be wiped.

    The former leaders recalled that during Wamakko’s administration as Governor of Sokoto state numerous developmental projects were brought to the area, adding, ” but now the reverse is the case.”

    They pledged to continue to mobilize more support for APC towards its victory at all levels.

    Similarly, hundreds of PDP members were received into APC at Gadanbe town of Katami south ward of Silame Local Government Area,  home town of the incumbent PDP House of Representatives member, Hon. Mani Mai Shinko Katami.

    Silame Local Government APC Coordinator,  Alhaji Dalhatu Umaru Dantama and a party stalwart in the area, Alhaji Abubakar Gitta Rana received the new entrants into APC on behalf of the party’s leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and APC gubernatorial candidate, Hon. Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto.

    They were assured of equal treatment in the affairs of the party.

    With this development, APC in the state is waxing stronger day by day and many PDP members are on the verge of joining APC.

    The State Universal Basic Education Board in collaboration with the GO GREEN Project kick starts the project proper in three local government areas of the state.

    They are Sokoto North,Tambuwal and Yabo local governments areas.

    In Sokoto North, a team of technical officers of the GO GREEN Project led by the Project Manager Comrade Aliyu Abubakar Shehu establish garden in a private school, Brilliant Footsteps Academy, Buhari Model Primary School in Tambuwal and UBE Girls Day Secondary in Yabo.

    It could be recalled that during the official flag-of and launching of the GO GREEN project on the 18th of this month,the Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board Alhaji Altine Shehu kajiji said ten thousand tree seedlings would be provided for establishment of Orchards and Gardens in basic schools, road sides plantation and distribution of various variety of Economic,Environmental,Indigenous and Amenity tree seedlings to households for plantation in homes.

    Alhaji Altine Shehu who is also the Executive Chairman Shehu Maikoli Foundation said the GO GREEN Project which is a partnership between Shehu Maikoli Foundation, Eco Africa Climate Change Foundation and the Nigeria Union of Journalists Sokoto State Council was designed to complement the state government afforestation effort.

    Speaking shortly after the final encounter held in the auditorium of Sultan Maccido Institute for Qur’an and General Studies Sokoto between Yabo and Wamakko, the Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board Alhaji Altine Shehu Kajiji said the board under his stewardship is committed to Improving curricular and extra-curricular activities in all the basic schools across the state.

    Alhaji Altine Shehu said this is imperative in consideration of the contribution of extra-curricular activities to shaping the brains of Pupils as well as making them physically fit.

    He commended the Department of Primary Schools for successfully organising the inter Primary School championship which is keenly contested among all the basic schools across the state.

    Kajiji promised that the board is more than ready to encourage winners of the championship as they will soon represent the state at the national level of the competition.

    He said being him a retired season teacher who loves nothing above teaching profession is anxious to ensurinq that public basic schools can compete favourably with private schools in the state.

    Turning to the welfare of teachers,Kajiji hinted that effort is on to Improving the pay of teachers through implementation of the pending promotions of the committed and dedicated ones among them.

    In their separate Goodwill Messages,the Directors of Quality Assurance Dr Adamu Abdullahi Mogonho,JSS Ibrahim Aliyu,ECCDE Farouk Katune and Director Sokoto Education Resource Center Abdullahi Maishanu praises the contestants of the championship for their composure,smartness,zeal and courage.

    They also commended their teachers for an excellent mentoring as well as the Primary Schools Department for organizing the competition.

    Earlier in a welcome address the Director Primary Schools of the board Hajiya Fatima Ahmad Tafida said the debate championship was organized with the support of the Universal Basic Education Commission as part of preparation of the forthcoming national level of the competition.

    She thanked the State Universal Basic Education Board under the leadership of Alhaji Altine Shehu Kajiji for its total support and cooperation to ensurinq the success of the championship.

    Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of a trophy,medals and cash prizes to Yabo LGEA for capturing first position as well as Wamakko,Sokoto South and Illela for emerging second,third and fourth position respectively.

    Presenting the furniture to the Headmaster of the school Malam Nasiru Shehu on behalf of the Executive Chairman of the board Altine Shehu Kajiji,the Store Officer and Public Relations Officers of the board Usman Malami Tambuwal and Abbas Tukur Sanyinna said the furniture were procured to the school in fulfilment of the promise made to that effect by the subeb boss.

    This was contained in a release issued by the Imformation Officer of the Board, Abbas Tukur Sanyinna.

    It further stated that Kajiji mentioned that it is disheartening for a school of Waziri Model status which produce prominent personalities such as season civil servants and politicians to be without furniture simply because of the activities of hoodlums who form the habit of deleverately vandalising and selling the iron to scavengers.

    This he mentioned was in addition to the fact that the school is located at the center of the state capital and sarrounded by households who’s children are attending the school.

    He said the State Universal Basic Education Board under his leadership is committed to Improving the standard of basic education in the state through provision adequate teaching and learning materials as well as Improving the welfare of teachers.

    Speaking shortly after receiving the furniture the Headmaster of the school Malam Nasiru Shehu Bazza thanked the subeb boss for providing the school with furniture after years without any.

    He said the school authority will collaborate with the School Based Management Committee and Parent Teacher Association to safeguarding the furniture.

    Efforts are being made by the State Universal Basic Education Board to improve the welfare of primary school teachers in the state.

    Subeb boss Altine Shehu Kajiji stated this today at the opening of a ten days Review Meeting on Teacher Recruitment and Deployment Guidelines being held in the conference hall of Sokoto Guess inn.

    The Public Relations Officer Abbas Tukur Sanyinna confirmed that,Alhaji Altine Shehu said this is imperative inview of the fact that improving teachers welfare assists greatly in motivating them to perform their duties effectively.

    According to him,as such the board is looking into the implementation of teachers promotions because many of them have stayed for years without such.

    Kajiji however explained that while doing this only committed and dedicated teachers would be considered.

    He said the board will henceforth consider hardwork and commitment to duty as a yardstick to promoting its teachers instead of reliance on three year benchmark for moving to the next level.

    On the review meeting, Alhaji Altine Shehu described it as timely in view of the fact that the importance of teacher to education can not be over stated.

    He commended UNICEF for supporting the documenting of Guidelines and assured of the Sokoto subeb’s determination to champion it’s full implementation.

    Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board Alhaji Altine Shehu Kajiji gave the assurance to at the inauguration of SUBEBkoto Servicom Unit.

    Alhaji Altine Shehu said the board under his stewardship is committed to domesticating any system,idea or strategy from UBEC which was aim at providing improve quality services to people especially as they relate to provision of basic education.

    Kajiji to this end pledged his total support, assistance, and cooperation to the activities of SERVICOM UNIT of sokoto subeb for the attainment of the set goal.

    He said the unit would be fully supported through provision of all the required logistics by his office for it to function effectively and vibrantly.

    Earlier the representative of the UBEC Servicom unit Nuhu Cheshi said the role of SERVICOM is to provided quality service to the people, ensure good leadership and to educate citizens on their right.

    Cheshi opined that the service compact was aim at ensuring excellent,timely,fair,honest, effective and transparent customer service and mindset changes as well as strong collaboration and ownership across all governments in the coordination of the implementation of the UBE Program by UBEC and Subebs.

    He believe that the sokoto state SERVICOM UNIT of SUBEB will be a prototype for the whole country in view of proactive and dynamic leadership style it’s current chairman Alhaji Altine Shehu Kajiji.

    Those inaugurated are Deputy Director Administration Lauwali Hamisu as focal officer, Suleiman Muhammad,Chika Shehu Yabo and Aliyu M Chiso as Desk Officers One,two and three respectively.

    The ceremony was witnessed by the Permanent Members Alhaji Maccido Waziri and Hajiya Fati Ilo,Permanent Secretary of the board Alhaji Ahmad Rufa’i Ibrahim as well as some Directors and Deputy Directors.

    Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board Alhaji Altine Shehu Kajiji made the request today when he visited the Executive Secretary Universal Basic Education Commission Dr Hamid Bobboyi in his office.

    The release by the Public Relations Officer of the Board,Abbas Tukur Sanyinna further said, Kajiji said since his appointment as the Executive Chairman, Sokoto State Universal Basic Education Board,he beamed his searchlight on how best and better the basic education in sokoto could improve through wider collaboration with UBEC and other critical stakeholders.

    He opined that it’s only through massive and serious intervention, support, cooperation and collaboration with UBEC that the desired goal of having a better quality education at the basic level could be achieved.

    Kajiji used the visit to commend the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission Dr Hamid Bobboyi for conceiving various programs aim at restoring the lost glory of basic education sub sector in Nigeria.

    He also informed Dr Bobboyi of how he plan to resuscitate the basic education sub sector in sokoto state using his past experience as retired classroom teacher who has the interest of teachers and teaching.

    Responding the Executive Secretary Universal Basic Education Commission Dr Hamid Bobboyi described the Sokoto Subeb Executive Chairman’s visit as historic.

    Bobboyi who said he is quite aware of numerous efforts being put in place by kajiji to revamp the basic education,assured him of the UBEC commitment to complementing sokoto subeb effort in what ever way possible in achieving it’s goals.

    He congratulated sokoto people for having personality of kajiji’s caliber to steer the affairs of sokoto subeb.

    Kajiji who was in company of Directors of Planning Umar Muhammad Yabo and Mobilisation Kabiru Aliyu also find time to discuss issues with some key officers of UBEC and sought their support to improving basic education in sokoto state.

    Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education board Alhaji Altine Shehu Kajiji made pledge today when he visited the school in continuation of his unscheduled tour to schools under the board.

    Alhaji Altine Shehu said the renovation of the dilapidated block of classrooms become imperative in consideration of the fact that the school is over crowded with pupils.

    He expressed optimism that the block when rehabilitated will accommodate a number of pupils thereby reducing pupils congestion in classes.

    The Chairman however expressed concern with the late coming to work by both teachers and pupils of the school and called on parents,PTA and SBMC of the school to intensify effort in overcoming the ugly trend for rapid development of education and the area in general.

    Turning to the teachers, Alhaji Altine Shehu challenged them to always put the fear of Allah in the discharge of their responsibility of imparting sound knowledge and good moral upbringing of children under their care.

    He told them that the unscheduled visit he embark upon was not meant to witchunting any teacher but rather to remind them on what is expected of them as second parents of pupils.

    Kajiji also used the medium to commend a 70 year old contract teacher in the school Alhaji Abubakar Ayagi whom he met in the school controlling pupils.

    Informing the Subeb boss about the old man, Head Teacher of the school said Malam Abubakar Ayagi was a former E.O who was employed on contract as a result of his enthusiasm,commitment,dedication and sacrifice to duty during his period of active service who normally report to work as early as 7:30 in the morning.

    The Executive Chairman in appreciation of Ayagi’s commitment to duty give him token amount of money and called on others to emulate him.

    Alhaji Altine Shehu also commended the Education Secretary of the Area Aminu Ibrahim for his commitment to improving teaching and learning through constant supervision of schools under him as well as ensuring the welfare of his teachers and called on other Education Secretaries in the state to emulate him.

    Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board Alhaji Altine Shehu Kajiji expressed the worry today when he paid an unscheduled visit to Model Primary School Kalambaina and JSS section of the school.

    According to him it’s unbelievable to note that people of Kalambaina that happens to be an outskirts of Sokoto are left behind in terms of education.

    Kajiji said it is disheartening and disgrace to note that people of the area choose to engage their children in rice milling processing at the detriment of their education.

    He said the board will not allow such i don’t care attitude toward the education of children from any community as the state government is doing it’s best to ensure education for all.

    As at the time of his visit by 08:40 in the morning the turn out of both teachers and pupils is zero while at JSS section only 4 out of 20 teachers were met.

    Speaking the village head of Kalambaina told the SUBEB Chairman that they would soon embark on aggressive enlightenment campaign on the need for parent in the area to be sending their wards in school to acquire western and islamic education for the development of the area.
