    Ahead Of 2023 General Elections Thousands Register Their Support To Sokoto APC Leadership

    As the election year is past approaching in Nigeria, several APC supporters from Rumfar Gidan Salanke Ward, Kofar Atiku area of sokoto south local government of sokoto state, have stormed the residence of APC leader in the state Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko to register their total loyalty to the leadership of the party.

    Leader of the delegation and Chairman APC Elders’ Committee in the area Alh Mu’azu Mai Gari told the Senator that they came to associate themselves and they are fully ready to continue supporting the movement of APC in the state.

    The release by the Senator’s media aide, Bashar Abubakar also said,another strong pillar in the polling unit of the area Mallam Alu Fahat known as Alu-Na-Alu, intimated the Senator that, they have been working all the time to defend their votes whenever the election times come and pledged continued support to APC for it’s victory.

    APC women leader in the area Hajiya Rabi Bello said they came to reaffirm their unwavering support to the leadership of the party under Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko for the development of APC at all levels.

    One of the Decampees, Nura Draguli informed the Senator that, they came into APC to win the election and promised to give their maximum cooperation for the success of the party.

    Earlier, while recieving the delegation at his Gawon Nama residence Sokoto, APC leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko expressed happiness for seeing such caliber of people in the party.

    The senator advised them to ensure they get Permanent voters’ Card to elect all APC candidates during the forthcoming 2023 general Elections.

    He thanked them for the visit, support to the party and urged them to maintain the tempo.

    During the visit to the senator, the APC Gubernatorial candidate Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto and Member Representing Wamakko/Kware federal Constituency Ahmad Abdullahi Kalambaina were at the hand to receive the delegation.

    The delegation was accompanied at the visit by the APC Youth leader in the state Alh. Nasiru Italy, Alh. Bashar Nuhu and Mallam Nafi’u.

    The Sokoto state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Hussaini Gumel who has been in the Police service for 30 years, while addressing newsmen on activities and plans of the Command at the Police Officers Mess said for the mutual understanding by all stakeholders projected that the first duty for the state government is to maintain law and order so that the property and religious belief of the subject matter are fully protected by the state.

    He said as taught in the service,it would be a guiding principle for the command henceforth which include multi service, banditry which are resulting in the outright murder of Innocent human beings and creating an overwhelming fear to the entire populace among others.

    “Our policing strategy will key into wider efforts of the government at both Federal and state levels in the areas of implementing all peace, sustainability initiatives and plans,boosting operations Cuff Ader,Operation Restore Peace Initiatives and Carrying out periodic reviews among many things’, averred the Commissioner.

    He prevailed on all stakeholders to build a stronger synergy with all conventional security agencies to strongly collaborate with government and traditional leaders to fight insecurity in the zone.

    Commissioner Gumel also discussed many strategies aimed at fighting insecurity and all forms of Ill vices.

    As APC strongholds in Sokoto are defecting to opposition PDP, the former Chairman and current PDP leader in Sabin Birni local government area of the is defecting to APC.

    Receiving the decampee, the leader of the party in the state Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko described the defection of the PDP bigwig in the state and Sabon Birni local government area in particular as a welcome development.

    The Senator added that the decampee will be carried along as any APC member at all the time.

    During the visit at the resident of the Senator along Gawon Nama area, Abdulkadir Jelani
    Danbuga was accompanied by the APC serving Chairman Sabon Birni local government Alh. Yawale Sarkin Baki and former Commissioner in the state, Alh. Ahmad Barade Wamakko as well as Alh. Ibrahim Muhammad Gatawa, popularly known as NPI.

    The ceremony that took place at Giginya Memorial Stadium Sokoto has witnessed another grand set back for APC as great number of its Chieftains left for opposition party for one reason or another.

    Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal while enumerating the decampees said they are receiving their brothers who are coming back home which he declared as a step towards success come 2023 general elections.

    He also said the opposition party are in no comparable or competable to beat them during the general elections as they have manpower strong enough to win any election in this country.

    Tambuwal further said they are operating open door policy for all those wishing to join the great party.

    PDP Vice Presidential aspirant,Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa while expressing gratitude for receiving the likes of Yusuf Sulaiman,Senator Abubakar Salame, Abdullahi Abubakar Gumbi and host of others commended Tambuwal for his achievements which led others to join their party.

    Dr. Okowa reiterated the need for all eligible persons to immediately register and possess voter cards as it is the only weapon one can fight his political enemy adding that their is not like that of APC as they are set to rescue this country from banditry, thuggery, and all forms all social vieces affecting the development and economy of this country.

    The decampees include Alhaji Yusuf Sulaiman, Senator Abubakar Salame, Alhaji Abdullahi Abubakar Gumbi are those that contested for governorship seat.

    Some that decamped to PDP contested for either Senatorial,House of Representative or State Assembly seats.

    Dr. Ayochiya Ayu,Members of the National Working Committee and hosts of other PDP influencials from across the country also witnessed the ceremony.

    UNICEF Provides 1995 Hijabs To 133 EAC Schools In Sokoto

    The Permanent Secretary State Universal Basic Education Board Alhaji Ahmad Rufa’i Ibrahim has today inspected materials provided by UNICEF for distribution to Environmental Health Clubs across the three EAC schools in the state.

    The benefiting 133 schools are from Kware, Shagari and Isa LGEAs.

    The materials included 931 sets of T-shirts and 1995 hijabs.

    Speaking shortly after inspecting the materials, the Permanent Secretary Alhaji Ahmed Rufa’i Ibrahim expressed appreciation to UNICEF for its continued support to basic education in the state.

    According to him, the materials would no doubt motivate members of the Environmental Health Clubs to develop more interest in issues concerning the Environmental Health in the selected Schools.

    He was accompanied on the visit by the Directors of Administration Alhaji Mubarak A Waziri,ECCDA Farouk Katine as well as some Deputy Directors.

    Over 420 intending Pilgrims to depart Sultan Abubakar 111 International Airport Sunday to perform this years’ Hajj exercise.

    Permanent Secretary of the Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Shehu Muhammad Dange made this known while addressing newsmen in his office on the preparations made for the take up of pilgrims in the state.

    He said about 2404 intending Pilgrims were approved after thorough screening and that those above 65 years were kept out of operations.

    As all the intending Pilgrims be conveyed in five trips, Dange said adequate security measures involving police, Civil Defence and others are engaged to ensure that everything concerning the take up from beginning to the end went smoothly.

    Gada local government area was scheduled first batch of the take up.

    Windstorm in Baga, Alasar ward in Tambuwal local government has affected over 90 houses.

    Commiserating with the victims, the Director general state Management Agency Alhaji Nasiru Alhaji described the incident as a will of Allah and called on them to ensure patience.

    Nasiru inform that they were in the area to ascertain the level of damage caused by the storm and the affected areas for the state government assistance.

    He assured them of the state government’s assistance to the affected people to alleviate hardship noting that the over 90 affected households are very in disorder and would receive government’s assistance immediately after the assessment.

    Commending the Hospital as one the most growing tertiary Hospitals in Nigeria,the Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire said it is also one the very few Federal Hospitals he had occasion to visit in over two years.

    He assured the management of the Hospital commitment of the present administration to continuously improve quality of healthcare in Nigeria to meet the highest standards found anywhere in the world as not everyone has the desire or means to travel abroad for treatment and called on Doctors,Nurses and care providers to bear in mind and commit to the stated objective of excellence in service delivery to Nigerians.

    Earlier in his speech, the Chief Medical Director of Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital, Professor Anas Ahmad Sabir disclosed that among the projects to be commissioned are the newly established Nuclear Medicine Department, newly constructed Brachytherapy Center,Cardiothoraxic Center, Upgraded Intensive Care Unit,Multipurpose Center, Female students hostel,Molecular Laboratory,Renovated Trauma Center and Renovated Accident and Emergency Department among others.

    He said the Hospital is strategically located to serve as referral Center for the catchment States of Sokoto,Kebbi and Zamfara.Professor Ana’s also said the Hospital has 900 bed capacity with 2462 total number of staff and 136 Consultants/Specialists adding that in 2021 alone,19,934 were adm8tted into the Hospital while 71,220 patients were seen in the outpatient Clinics.

    Anas also disclosed that since the inception of the present management in 2018, they had consolidated on the achievement of his predecessor in the provision of different specialty services in the Hospital, praising self that the Cardiothoraxic Center in collaboration with Muhammad VI University Teaching Hospital Marrakesh,Morocco, World Muslim Leaque and Cardiothoracic Center Association of Nigeria has successfully conducted Open Heart Surgeries to over 15 patients.

    He then appreciated the improved budgetary allocation support by the Minister and Special Intervention Projects that gives the Hospital Management the ability to execute projects to be commissioned today.

    While enumerating the challenges, the Chief Medical Director said inadequate manpower to meet up with the current physical development which HSA worsened with the current braindrain, high cost of energy and unstability leading to frequent breakdown of expensive machines and aging amenities among others.

    Relatively in2021, the Federal Executive Council according to the Minister, approval was granted for the construction, procurement and installation of a linear accelerator and magnetic resonance imaging machines for UDUTH adding that the modern medical equipment will improve diagnostic and management of cancer,neurosurgery and orthopaedics cases.

    The Minister also revealed that, the government is monitoring the outbreak of monkey pox,which is causing anxiety around the world thereby making efforts to enlighten public on the dangers of the disease and its spread.

    He then congratulate the Board and Hospital Management for achieving so much in their tenure.

    The Commandant stated that the Nigerian Security and Civil Deence Corps Tsamiya outpost in Tureta Local government has successfully arrested Bello Abdullahi,Bello Abubakar,,Abdullàhi Oro and Lawali Sulaiman.

    He added that the suspects were arrested in connection with kidnapping of four persons in Tureta on April 22nd in which N5m was collected as ransom.

    Alhaji Dada further said the Command has also recorded success in the arrest of suspects kidnapping one person at Dange Shuni local government area on March 16th in which N900,000 was collected as ransom

    A group of more than twenty supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar were in Sokoto on Sunday to express their appreciation to the state Governor for the historic role he played in his emergence as the party’s flag bearer.

    Led by Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Kirfi (Wazirin Bauchi), the group comprises of various stakeholders in the North-East as well as a coalition of businessmen who are backing the candidature of Alhaji Atiku.

    Media aide to the governor,Bello Muhammad said this is the third of such visits by the presidential candidate, his associates and even family since May 29 when Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal dropped his aspiration in support of the former Vice President during the party’s special convention at the velodrome of MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja.

    On the same day, immediately after he was declared as the winner of the keenly contested nomination bid, Alh. Atiku accompanied by his supporters had visited Gov. Tambuwal at his residence where he tipped his hat for him. Subsequently, his wife and her entourage also applauded his heroic political feat when she met the Governor’s wife at the latter’s Abuja residence.

    Still feeling grateful for the Governor’s gesture, the former Vice President sent a high-powered delegation to Sokoto to once more express his recognition of Tambuwal’s selflessness.

    Speaking at the ceremony, Alhaji Bello who said they were in the state on the request of the PDP Presidential flag bearer, praised the decision taken by the governor, emphasizing that it demonstrates that he is a committed leader who always has his people’s interest above his own.

    He also added that what Governor Tambuwal did shows his love for the unity of Northern Nigeria and the country in general, praying obsequiously to God to uplift the governor and reward him abundantly.

    In his remarks, Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said he took the decision to step aside for Atiku as a sacrifice for the development and unity of the country, the PDP as well as the desire to save the nation from eminent collapse.

    Tambuwal said the country under the faltering leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is facing countless challenges in terms of security, economy among others, hence the need to join hands together in seeking to rescue Nigerians from hardship.

    Expressing confidence in the ability of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to turn around the fortunes of the country if elected, the Governor pledged to work conscientiously towards his victory, just as he thanked him for the honour of sending a delegation to him in Sokoto.

    Some of those in the delegation were the PDP gubernatorial candidates of Borno and Yobe states:
    Mohammed Jajari and Sharif Abdullahi respectively;
    the chairman of the North East Business Forum, Abubakar Dalhatu Funakaye and the monarch of Ganye, the home town of the former Vice President, Alhaji Umaru Sanda (Ganwari Ganye).
