    Tambuwal Receives 11 Cows Donated By First Surat Group To Orphans, Needy In Sokoto

    Under the aegis of the First Surat Group of Companies Limited, 11 cows were today presented to orphans and the needy in Sokoto state as part of the annual Kurban, the annual animal sacrifice of animals marking the Eid-el-Adha.

    The First Surat Group of Companies Limited is an umbrella body for the Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) and the Nizzamiyye Hospital, Abuja.

    Presenting the cows to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Group’s representative said the gesture is part of its resolve to assist the needy and orphans across the country to celebrate the Eid-el- Kabir.

    According to Yasar Ovenc, the Managing Director of the First Surat Group, who congratulated people of the state for a smooth Sallah celebration, 1,700 cows were distributed across the country this year.

    Receiving the cows, Governor Tambuwal thanked the Group for the gesture and prayed to Allah to reward them abundantly.

    Tambuwal said the gesture complements the state government efforts in providing succor to the needy and orphans in the state.

    The release by Bello Muhammad further said the Governor later presented the cows to the chairman of the state Zakkat and Waqaf Commission (SOZECOM), Malam Lawal Mai Doki for onward slaughter and distribution to the beneficiaries.

    A group of more than twenty supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar were in Sokoto on Sunday to express their appreciation to the state Governor for the historic role he played in his emergence as the party’s flag bearer.

    Led by Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Kirfi (Wazirin Bauchi), the group comprises of various stakeholders in the North-East as well as a coalition of businessmen who are backing the candidature of Alhaji Atiku.

    Media aide to the governor,Bello Muhammad said this is the third of such visits by the presidential candidate, his associates and even family since May 29 when Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal dropped his aspiration in support of the former Vice President during the party’s special convention at the velodrome of MKO Abiola stadium in Abuja.

    On the same day, immediately after he was declared as the winner of the keenly contested nomination bid, Alh. Atiku accompanied by his supporters had visited Gov. Tambuwal at his residence where he tipped his hat for him. Subsequently, his wife and her entourage also applauded his heroic political feat when she met the Governor’s wife at the latter’s Abuja residence.

    Still feeling grateful for the Governor’s gesture, the former Vice President sent a high-powered delegation to Sokoto to once more express his recognition of Tambuwal’s selflessness.

    Speaking at the ceremony, Alhaji Bello who said they were in the state on the request of the PDP Presidential flag bearer, praised the decision taken by the governor, emphasizing that it demonstrates that he is a committed leader who always has his people’s interest above his own.

    He also added that what Governor Tambuwal did shows his love for the unity of Northern Nigeria and the country in general, praying obsequiously to God to uplift the governor and reward him abundantly.

    In his remarks, Sokoto state Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said he took the decision to step aside for Atiku as a sacrifice for the development and unity of the country, the PDP as well as the desire to save the nation from eminent collapse.

    Tambuwal said the country under the faltering leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is facing countless challenges in terms of security, economy among others, hence the need to join hands together in seeking to rescue Nigerians from hardship.

    Expressing confidence in the ability of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to turn around the fortunes of the country if elected, the Governor pledged to work conscientiously towards his victory, just as he thanked him for the honour of sending a delegation to him in Sokoto.

    Some of those in the delegation were the PDP gubernatorial candidates of Borno and Yobe states:
    Mohammed Jajari and Sharif Abdullahi respectively;
    the chairman of the North East Business Forum, Abubakar Dalhatu Funakaye and the monarch of Ganye, the home town of the former Vice President, Alhaji Umaru Sanda (Ganwari Ganye).

    On arrival at government house, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state called on all supporters of the PDP party to consider his withdrawal in support of Atiku as a step towards the development of the great party.

    He said the decision of withdrawal made was for the good of the party and called on general public to pray for him and the party saying it was a great sacrifice he made on supporters behalf adding that it was aimed at centering the party, democracy and by the grace of God centering their policy.

    “Our past leaders made us to continue to make sacrifice for the good of all of us and for the country”, and thanked the people of Sokoto state and supporters across the country for their support.

    He then assured all that they would work assiduously for the victory of the PDP party come 2023 general elections.

    “This morning I received with shock and displeasure the sad news of the tragic death of 29 people of our citizens who perished as a result of a boat mishap at Gidan Magana village in Garin Ginga precinct of Shagari local government area of the state.

    “I, also, on behalf of my family and government of Sokoto state applaud the heroic acts and selfless of some Samaritans who staked their lives to assist in the rescue of some travelers in the ill-fated boat, thereby helping in reducing the casualties.

    “With sublime submission to the will of Allah, who dispenses the affairs of men and other creatures as HE pleases, on behalf of the government and the good people of Sokoto, I hereby condole our citizens whose relatives and loved ones died as a result of the unfortunate incident”, Governor Tambuwal averred.

    He said their prayers are with the families of the deceased. May Allah grant the departed souls Aljanna Firdaus.

    Tambuwal, NUC Berth First Northern Varsity Of Education In Sokoto

    The National Universities Commission (NUC) on Monday identified the Shehu Shagari University of Education (SSUE) as the first discipline based tertiary institution of its kind in the entire northern region of the country.

    Hitherto known as Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE), it was upgraded by Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal to the status of a full-fledged varsity that will have bias for entrepreneurship development.

    The release by governor’s media aide aide Muhammad Bello further said the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof. Abubakar Adamu Rasheed, confirmed the recognition of the varsity when Gov. Tambuwal led the management board of the university to present strategic documents of the institution to the Commission in Abuja.

    According to Prof. Rasheed, “prior to the visit, the NUC has looked at the antecedents of the SSCOE vis-a-vis the outstanding credentials of Gov. Tambuwal in the area of education development, particularly, tertiary education; and gladly present to you a letter of recognition of the SSUE as the 58th state university in the country and first of its type in Northern Nigeria, in addition to being the fourth in such category in the country.”

    He further stated that the impressive record of the Governor as a statesman with extensive national network is very clear to people of the country, emphasizing that he is yet to rest in his drive for better education thresholds for the people of Sokoto state.

    In his remarks before presenting the strategic documents, Gov. Tambuwal explained that the establishment of the varsity followed due process of the law and statutes of the NUC.

    He said the desideratum for establishing the university is the dearth of manpower in the education sector in the state, thereby expressing hope that “the university will go a long way in addressing the human resources gap and benefit the people of the state and its catchment areas.”

    He stressed that all that could be done to ensure the smooth take-off of the university, which focus primarily on the combination of theoretical and functional education, has been done, assuring the NUC that the state government and the university will continue to abide by all its rules.

    He pledged that the varsity will hit the ground running soonest.

    Gov. Tambuwal was accompanied during the presentation by the state Commissioner for Sports and Youths Development, Bashir Gorau, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Malami Tambuwal, the Managing Director of the Sokoto State Investment Board, Alhaji and other members of the university management board.

    Tambuwal Commends Sultan Sa’ad For Peaceful Coexistence

    Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has been applauded for working assiduously in strengthening of peace and unity in the country without being partisan.

    Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state gave the commendation on New Year eve while receiving the main report of a stakeholders committee on security set up by sokoto state government and led by the Sultan.

    The Governor urged the Sultan not to be distracted or discouraged by detractors and encouraged him to continue with what he is doing in preaching peace and unity in the country.

    Thanking the Sultan for accepting to serve as the chairman of the committee and also for his support and cooperation to his administration, Tambuwal
    said his choice as the chairman was predicated on many reasons including his current role monarchical role as a spiritual and temporal leader who was also a former military officer who served in many capacities covering security matters.

    He appealed to citizens in the state to engage in constructive criticism especially on issues of security.

    Tambuwal commended the leaders and people in the state for setting aside their political differences and converging August last year to attend the stakeholders security meeting held at Kasarawa Conference Center.

    Giving kudos to the security agencies in the state for their synergy and urging them not to relent as the security improves, the governor assured that his administration will implement the Sultan Committee report fully.

    In his remarks, Sultan Abubakar said after the forming of the main committee it swung into action and formed four sub committees on security, traditional affairs and religious groups as well as the three arms of government and the civil society groups.

    He said all of these worked diligently and submitted their respective reports to the main committee which harmonized and compiled a final copy of the report.

    The Sultan said if the report is implemented the security challenges in the state will be reduced drastically.

    He appealed to people of the state to set aside negative politics when it comes to security issues and urged the leaders to be just and fair in their leadership.

    He also urged imams and the Ulama to continue to pray for peace and peaceful coexistence so that the security challenges in the state and country in general will be overcomed.

    Tambuwal Meets PMB, Seeks Declaration State Of Emergency In Terrorists’ Enclave

    Pursuant to the provisions of the 1999 Constitution and to further give effect to the process of proclaiming bandits as terrorists by the President, Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state a while ago called on President Muhammadu Buhari to declare a full scale state of emergency in all areas where criminals, so determined, are domiciled.

    This, according to Gov. Tambuwal who met with President Buhari at the Presidential villa Monday evening for about thirty minutes, would be to enable the Armed Forces to carry out their operations without let or hindrance in all enclaves affected by the declaration.

    According to his media aide in a release issued to newsmen, Muhammad Bello said these operations, once conceived and ready for execution, “should be carried out simultaneously in the states where the terrorists have strongholds, such as , Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Niger and Kebbi; as well as elsewhere, where the criminals have hideouts,” he said.

    Gov. Tambuwal also called on the President to give premium to the deployment of more manpower to all beleaguered areas just as he advocated for the procurement of sophisticated equipment, particularly, modern technology- which use is now centered around the deployment of drones globally.

    He also appealed to the President, to consider popular opinions suggesting the recall of retired personnel for engagement in the war against terrorists and the recruitment of more personnel in all the security services.

    In view of the security situation in the Sahel, which has escalated tension in the sub-region, the need to ask the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to seek extensive cooperation with the United Kingdom, France and the United States of America on security issues was also suggested by the Governor.

    Responding on the statement made by APC Chairman over the sale of Sokoto Central Market to a certain Financial Interest Institution, Sokoto state Governor,Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said he has never in anyway thought of selling the market no any of his cabinet Commissioner or Special Adviser ever approached him with such idea.

    He said considering the major projects both executed and those under construction are mostly done by indigenous contractors, more so,the most costly and money consuming Sokoto University Teaching Hospital that will consume N13.2b.

    He further averred that “Alhaji Mukhtar Maigona is the indigenous contractor and the Architect who designed the Hospital is also indigenous, look, opposition party are envying my performances because I am about the best governor who undertook to execute such projects as flyovers, roads,drainages as well as construction of schools and improving both primary education and agriculture”.

    Governor Tambuwal also said he is governing the state going by the oaths he took during the swearing ceremony.

    Presenting the budget before the Sokoto State House of Assembly and PDP stakeholders, Governor Tambuwal said it was for both current and capital expenditure going by global occurrences and globalisation.
    He said this would provide opportunities to execute meaningful projects as to improve education sector which has become the number one priority in the 2022 budget. Others are agriculture, health, social welfare among others.
    “Despite numerous challenges faced by 2021 budget, it has become pertinent for this administration to take adequate care of insurgency that hampers any form of development in the state, therefore I seek support of all elected office holders,stakeholders and all well meaning members of the society to come together in the fight against insurgency, improve the standard of education and social wellbeing of the citizens in the state”, averred the Governor.
    He added that the budget would consider completion of all ongoing projects,renovation of important structures as well as consider food insecurity in the state.

    The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party-Governors Forum (PDP-GF), Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state a while ago led three of his counterparts to Ondo state where they met with the former Governor of the state, Olusegun Mimiko.

    The Governors in company of Tambuwal were Seyi Makinde, Nyesom Wike and Okezie Ikpeazu of Oyo, Rivers and Abia states respectively.

    Bello Muhammad said the closed door meeting was also attended by chieftains of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Ondo state. These include the former deputy governor of the state: Agboola Ajayi, three members of the Ondo state House of Assembly, Rasheed Elegbeleye, Tomide Akinribido and Festus Akingbaso.

    Also at the meeting were the former Speaker of the state, Jumoke Akindele, former Chief Judge, Olaseinde Kumuyi and the deputy governorship Candidate of the ZLP in the 2020 election, Gboye Adegbenro.

    Others include former House of Representatives member, Joseph Akinlaja, ex-governorship aspirant, Banji Okunomo as well as Dr Kola Ademujimi.

    Top former senior aides to Mimiko were not left out of the meeting. They are: Eni Akinsola, John-Paul Akinduro, Andrew Ogunsakin, Ayo Fadoju, Afolabi Akinsiku, Bolanle Olafunmiloye, Funmilola Oluwadare and Taye Afilaka among others.
