    Nigeria thrash Lesotho 3-0 in AFCON Qualifiers

    Super Eagles beat Lesotho 3-0 in their final Group L match in the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos State on Tuesday.

    Napoli’s striker Victor Osimhen gave Super Eagles their first goal 22nd minute into the match while Oghenekaro Etebo doubled the Nigerian team lead in the 51st minute.

    Paul Onuachu who came in for Osimhen in the 74th minutes scored the nine minutes after.

    Victor Osimhen finally recovers from COVID-19

    Napoli and Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has finally recovered from coronavirus. 

    The Nigerian international, 22,  first tested positive for COVID-19 upon his return to his club from the Christmas holiday. Last week, he returned another positive COVID-19 result and was scheduled for another test which came back negative. 

    On Friday, Napoli confirmed that Osimhen received a negative result from the last swab test.

    Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen tests positive for coronavirus

    Super Eagles and Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has tested positive for coronavirus on his return to Italy, his club confirmed on Friday.

    The 21-year-old Nigeria international has been sidelined since last November after dislocating his shoulder while representing Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations, returned to his club on Thursday from holiday. 

    On arrival, the former Lille was subjected to the compulsory Covid-19 PCR test and his Serie A outfit disclosed in a statement that Osimhen returned a positive result.

    “Napoli can confirm that Victor Osimhen has tested positive for COVID-19 following his return to Italy,” Napoli said in a statement.

    “Osimhen is currently asymptomatic and has not come into contact with the rest of the squad.”

    Napoli signed Osimhen from Lille in a club-record fee worth around 80 million euros ($94.6 million) in a five-year deal last summer.

    Since signing for the club, Osimhen has scored two goals in six league appearances but has not played since November 8 because of his shoulder injury.

    Victor Osimhen scores hat-trick on Napoli debut

    Victor Osimhen scored a hat-trick on his first appearance in a Napoli shirt as the Partenopei recorded an 11-0 friendly win over L’Aquila on Friday.

    Napoli officially began their pre-season preparations with a mini-tournament against Castel di Sangro, who were outclassed.

    In the second game, manager Gennaro Gattuso deployed a 4-2-3-1 formation with Hirving Lozano, Dries Mertens and Lorenzo Insigne fanning out behind summer signing Osimhen.

    The Nigerian got off to a good start, as he sprinted past defenders to score within 59 seconds.
    He grabbed his second goal in the third minute before completing his hat-trick in the eighth minute.

    Osimhen showed precisely what Gattuso had meant when he said the striker wasn’t just a target man, as the former Lille forward also contributed two assists and sparked several other moves with his passes.

    A Faouzi Ghoulam header, Insigne hat-trick, plus braces for Lozano and Mertens completed the rout.
