Take Covid-19 Second Wave Serious; CMD warns Nasarawa Residents

By Abel Leonard/ Lafia

The Chief Medical Director of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, Dr. Ikrama Hassan has called on the public to take the second wave of COVID-19 more seriously as it is proven to be more virulent than the first wave.

Dr. Ikarama stated this in an interview with  journalists  recently in his office  calling on the people of Nasarawa State to take personal responsibility for their health by observing the universal preventive protocols, adding that Nasarawa State has already recorded high number of COVID-19 cases in this second wave.

The CMD also emphasised that the government has fully equipped the hospital with all the necessary equipment for COVID-19 management, including ventilators, adding that the management of DASH has also retrained its staff and all necessary measures have been put  in place to tackle the second wave, hence, reducing  the rate of infections within the hospital.

He however laments on  the nonchalant attitude of the people towards the virus,  saying “it is very necessary at this time that individuals take personal responsibility of protecting themselves and others”.
