Tambuwal Maps Out Strategies With State Campaign Council

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state met with the newly appointed leadership and members of the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign council to discuss and fashion out ways to prosecute its campaigns ahead of forthcoming general elections next year.

Statement by Muhammad Bello said prior to this meeting held at the Presidential Lodge of Government House, Sokoto, Governor Tambuwal had presided over the council’s inauguration on Sunday at the state capital.

Spokesperson of the council, who is also the state’s Commissioner of Information Hon. Akibu Dalhatu, told journalists after the meeting that the aim of the meeting is to assemble all the members of the various committees in order to fashion and implement an effective strategy to ensure the success of the party in the 2023 general elections.

According to him, the party is set to conduct a vigorous and violence-free electioneering campaign in its determination to sweep the polls in the forthcoming elections.

He also said the council has directed all the party’s branches in the 23 local government areas of the state to replicate the structure from polling units up to wards in order to ensure inclusivity.

During the inauguration of the council on Sunday, Governor Tambuwal had hinted on the expansion of the council to include all the local government areas in the state, indicating that those to be appointed at this level should include elders, women and youths of the respective locales.

The state campaign management council led by Hon. Yusuf Suleiman (Dan Amar Sokoto), as Director General, has Alh. Mukhtar Maigona (Zannan Sokoto) as the Deputy Director General (DDG, Field Operation); Alh. Murtala Abdulkadir Dan’Iya – DDG Finance, Dr. Saleh Ibrahim – DDG Media and Publicity and Hon. Umar BawanAllah – DDG Volunteer Groups.

Other officials of the council are: Dr. Bello Guiwa – DDG Election Management, Prof. Bello Rabi’u Alkali – DDG Research & Strategy, Hon. Aminu Bala Bodinga – DDG Religious & Ethics, Hon. Abdullahi Balarabe Salame – DDG Security; and Prof. Aisha Madawaki  will serve as DDG Documentation & Reporting.
