Under the aegis of the First Surat Group of Companies Limited, 11 cows were today presented to orphans and the needy in Sokoto state as part of the annual Kurban, the annual animal sacrifice of animals marking the Eid-el-Adha.
The First Surat Group of Companies Limited is an umbrella body for the Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) and the Nizzamiyye Hospital, Abuja.
Presenting the cows to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Group’s representative said the gesture is part of its resolve to assist the needy and orphans across the country to celebrate the Eid-el- Kabir.
According to Yasar Ovenc, the Managing Director of the First Surat Group, who congratulated people of the state for a smooth Sallah celebration, 1,700 cows were distributed across the country this year.
Receiving the cows, Governor Tambuwal thanked the Group for the gesture and prayed to Allah to reward them abundantly.
Tambuwal said the gesture complements the state government efforts in providing succor to the needy and orphans in the state.
The release by Bello Muhammad further said the Governor later presented the cows to the chairman of the state Zakkat and Waqaf Commission (SOZECOM), Malam Lawal Mai Doki for onward slaughter and distribution to the beneficiaries.
