Taraba govt condemns violent APC campaign

The Taraba State Government has condemned the activities of the APC in maimed it citizens during their Campaign rally in Jalingo.

This was contained in a press statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Governor Darius Ishaku, Mr. Bala DanAbu.

He said the Taraba state government will not fold its arms while innocent people are being killed and maimed by the APC. The statement regretted the attack on Governor Ishaku’s convoy who had gone to see off President Muhammadu Buhari at the end of his presidential visit to the state, were several cars belonging to the state government alongside the Commissioner of Police were damaged.

According to the SSA, APC party faithful who were supposed to conduct a peaceful rally to show support for their candidates were seen carrying guns, cutlasses and sticks which they displayed openly and security agencies looked the other way.

He said the APC leadership in the state had gone round Jalingo metropolis and its environs destroying PDP posters and billboards. The statement further said the APC was given cover by security agencies who fired gunshots to scare away PDP member who tried to confront them.
