Taraba Govt trains staff on procurement

A 5-day Workshop on Best Practices and Procedures of Procurement for Taraba State Permanent Secretaries has been organized in Jalingo.

Declaring the workshop open on Monday in, Jalingo, Governor Darius Ishaku, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Anthony Jellason said the 5-day training programme focuses on Procurement Practices aimed at assisting the key Personnel to be upright in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Taraba state is to benefit from the Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP) 2m Dollars which according to him, promotes Transparency.

The Governor further stated that part of the epistles of his Rescue Agenda is the strengthening of the State economy like that of the Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP) which according to him, promotes Transparency, stimulates growth and ensure Accountability in the affairs of Governance.

“It is to underscore the above that I feel duty-bound to remain constant and resolute in ensuring that this in house training is conducted as often as possible to promote merit, Accountability, Transparency, Probity and Reliability as essential elements of Good Governance”, he said.

The Governor emphasized that the training be given topmost priority by all category of staff that have been identified to attend, also warned that any Staff whose name was approved to attend but fails to do so will be punished by either the office of the Head of Service or the Civil Service Commission.

While congratulating the Participants, the Governor charged them to avail themselves of the rear opportunity, stressing that they will be held accountable and responsible for any mistake in their documents as it affects Projects Monitoring, Evaluations, Contract Awards, Tender Board and many more.

Earlier, in his address the Taraba State Director-General, Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Jonah Magaji said with the support of Governor Darius Ishaku, the Bureau recorded many tremendous achievements.
Jonah highlighted some of the achievements saying the management staff took a tour to understudy the Federal Public Procurement in Abuja among others.
