The surprising health benefits of popcorn

Popcorn is mainly considered as a snack. People eat popcorns most especially when they are watching movies. Even though a good number of people might not be familiar with the benefits of popcorns, here are some of the health benefits that popcorns offer.

1. It can help one lose weight

Having that popcorn is light in nature, it promotes the loss of weight. Popcorn contains low fats and calories which makes it appropriate as it does not support an increase of weight. Hence, if one wants to lose weight, one can make popcorns to be his or her snack.

2. It’s full of vitamins and minerals

Popcorn is a whole grain and full of vitamins and minerals. Popcorns contains about 8% of iron plus other minerals such as; calcium, copper, magnesium, zinc and potassium. Hence, if one’s body is lacking any of these minerals, eating popcorns is then advisable.

3. It may prevent disease, and boost your eyesight

Eating popcorn is said to have a contribution in preventing heart disease and lower the chances of getting cancer.  This is because popcorn contains polyphenols with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Also, popcorn is known to improve the eye vision as it contains beta-carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin.
