By Abigail Philip David

President Bola Tinubu has named Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as the Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service. The appointment follows the conclusion of Haliru Nababa’s tenure, which began on February 18, 2021, under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

A statement issued on Friday by Ja’afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Board, confirmed that Ndidi’s appointment will take effect on December 15, 2024.

The statement read:
“The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has graciously approved the appointment of Nwakuche Sylvester Ndidi as Acting Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service following the expiration of the tenure of Haliru Nababa. His appointment takes effect from December 15, 2024.”

Ndidi, born on November 26, 1966, is from Oguta in Imo State. Before his new role, he served as the Deputy Controller-General overseeing the Training and Staff Development Directorate. A fellow of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, he also holds the national honor of Member of the Federal Republic (MFR).

President Tinubu expressed confidence in Ndidi’s abilities and urged him to leverage his extensive experience in his new leadership role.
